Worthing's Tutu Tuesday: A Celebration of Frills and Funky Moves!

Oh my darlings, gather 'round and let's talk about the fabulousness that is Tutu Tuesday in Worthing! Now, I know what you're thinking: "Tutus in Worthing? Isn't that a bit... well, 'out there'?" Let me assure you, my lovelies, this ain't your average seaside town. This is Worthing, home to a delightful dash of eccentricity, a sprinkle of '70s disco vibes, and a huge passion for all things twirly and pink. (I know, it sounds like my dream town, right?)

So, picture this: every Tuesday, the heart of Worthing bursts into a frenzy of pink tutus. It's a spectacle that would make even Beyoncé swoon. From the iconic classic single-layered tutu, the perfect ballerina look, to the multi-layered frothy fun of the '80s power tutu (Think legwarmers, glitter, and big hair), Worthing embraces it all! The streetlights gleam pink, cafes serve pink milkshakes, and the shops? Well, let's just say the sales assistants wear tutus, too! It's like a permanent, ongoing, and totally fabulous tutu party.

What's the inspiration? You might ask. Well, it's a little bit of everything. First off, there's the undeniable magic of the tutu. It’s the ultimate expression of whimsy, fun, and a little bit of rebellion all rolled into one. And then there's the #tututuesday movement itself, which started online and has since exploded worldwide. Worthing is, of course, a champion of this global phenomenon. They've really taken it to the next level, making it a day filled with joy, dancing, and pure, unadulterated fun.

Speaking of fun, I just have to tell you about my latest discovery, a #discosnail named Barnaby! Now, Barnaby's got a thing for tutus, and I don’t mean he wears them (although that’d be absolutely fabulous). He actually has a tiny, custom-made tutu for his little snail shell! (Can you even?) He's a real fashionista, this Barnaby. He loves nothing more than hanging out on Tutu Tuesday, soaking up the vibe and getting a few twirls in. He’s the most charming snail in Worthing and possibly the entire universe.

I, of course, joined in the Tutu Tuesday festivities. There’s no way I’d miss out on such a fashion explosion. I donned a custom pink tutu I’d made, sparkly, and a whole lot of feather boas, of course. (And you know, you simply cannot wear a tutu without at least one feather boa!) I mean, it’s the golden rule. And, to celebrate my debut into this wonderful world of Tutu Tuesdays, I had to get myself some of Worthing's famous "tutu donuts". Pink frosting with glitter sprinkles - what more could you ask for? I'll tell you what else we did, darlings…

  • We went to the seaside: But instead of our usual seagull watching, we got a chance to see some amazing tutu-inspired sandcastle creations. It was beautiful!
  • We had a 'tutu picnic: On the beach, no less, and we enjoyed a whole lot of champagne (a necessity for any proper tutu party)
  • We got a chance to chat with Barnaby: (Who else would bring their snail to a tutu party?). He was so excited! And you know what's even more amazing? Barnaby actually gave me some snail fashion advice. So much chic, this little fella!

So, darling, if you find yourself in Worthing on a Tuesday, ditch the dull and embrace the fabulous. Tutus, champagne, and dancing - it's the only way to experience a real #tututuesday (And make sure to look out for the disco snail, Barnaby!)
