Tutu Tuesday in Islington: Let’s Get This Party Started!
Hey gorgeous girls, It’s your fave ballet blogger and all-round pink enthusiast, Bella, bringing you another *fabulous* edition of Tutu Tuesday. Islington’s streets were poppin’ today with the finest tutus and the biggest, baddest disco beats. I’m talking full-on Studio 54 vibes, but with a touch of chic Parisian elegance – because, you know, a girl’s gotta have her style, right?
Now, I know what you’re thinking: "Tutus? In public? That’s so… eighties!" But trust me, ladies, the Tutu Tuesday movement is officially here to stay. And I'm not just talking about the usual ballerina bun and white pointe shoe combo, either. We're talkin' everything from vibrant pinks (obvs!) and sparkles, to dreamy pastel tulle clouds that would make even the most jaded fashion critic weep with joy.
Okay, let's get down to the nitty-gritty: The best part about today’s Tutu Tuesday in Islington was the absolute range of styles. We saw the classics, like the timeless Romantic tutu with its layers of floating tulle, and some super glamorous, structured, contemporary tutus too. Then there were those daring fashionistas rocking the tutu-skirt fusion - an amazing way to add some pizzazz to your everyday look. Who needs a plain old denim skirt when you’ve got a billowing tulle skirt to flaunt?
And I'm not gonna lie, I felt totally inspired by the gorgeous tutus I saw on my fellow Tuesday revelers! One lady had on the most gorgeous, vintage pink tutu, paired with a sleek leather jacket - Talk about a show-stopper.
Let’s get real, a fabulous outfit deserves a fabulous soundtrack. Thankfully, the DJ at my favorite cafe (I’m not naming names, babes – but think “all-day brunches with a disco vibe”), totally nailed the vibe. They had the whole street bopping to Chic, Donna Summer, and my personal fave: ABBA (because, honestly, who doesn’t love a good Dancing Queen singalong?).
Of course, the real highlight was spotting a little “disco snail" on my journey through the Islington shops. This guy, covered in glittering pink sequins and carrying a miniature disco ball on its back, definitely wins the "most creative" award for the day.
