Tutu Tuesday in Weston-super-Mare: A Disco-tastic Adventure in Pink!
So, the day has arrived, darlings – Tutu Tuesday in Weston-super-Mare! The sun is shining (almost – we are in England after all!), and the air is buzzing with anticipation for a day dedicated to all things frilly and fabulous.
Now, you all know I’m a HUGE fan of Tutu Tuesday. Every month, it’s a chance to unleash the ballerina within, twirl in public and maybe even get some funny looks from unsuspecting tourists. But this Tuesday, the vibe is extra special – disco-tastic, shall we say! So, think glittery tulle, bold colors and enough sequins to make a disco ball jealous.
This year, Weston-super-Mare’s Promenade is awash in pink. Oh yes, the colour of my heart, my soul, my...tutus! It's everywhere you look, from the perfectly coiffed pink bouffant hairstyles (totally channeling ABBA!) to the vibrant fuchsia outfits of the crowds (just wait until you see the glitter-bombed flamingo outfit... it’s divine!) And let’s not forget the fabulous array of pink tutus!
From the classic layered pancake style tutus that have been beloved by ballerinas for years (a real staple for a traditional “serious” ballerina!) to the voluminous whimsical tutu – you know, the ones that have those fantastic “wings”, giving a truly fairytale feel – the crowd is showing off their individual style. One particular outfit had my eyes watering – the tutus are covered in thousands of little pink feathers… oh the fabulous detail!
But what really made this Tutu Tuesday a winner were the outfits paying tribute to the one and only...the DISCO SNAIL! This, my dears, is a legend.
If you are unfamiliar with this shining beacon of joy and beauty (how?), this little gem was born on Twitter – he (or she, let’s be open-minded!), a shiny little disco ball in the form of a snail, who was featured in a viral TikTok, and promptly became the embodiment of everything disco and shiny! Naturally, this adorable snail (with a touch of sparkly snail shell) has been showing up in Tutu Tuesday outfits across the country!
And, you bet I found one! This little lady was rocking the Disco Snail-inspired look. The tutus? They had sparkly snail shell patterns and, as if by magic, even had some actual little silver glittery disco ball elements attached to it! The snail trail? That was a shiny golden strip of fabric trailing from her outfit. Amazing! I simply had to do a snap for my blog.
There’s something special about wearing a tutu. It makes you feel powerful, confident, and just a little bit silly – all the right things! It's also an excuse to get creative with your outfits!
