Tutu Tuesday in Crewe: Where Pink and Glitter Rule #tututuesday

Oh, my darlings! As a fashion-forward ballerina who loves nothing more than a bit of glitz and glam, it’s safe to say I'm absolutely obsessed with the concept of Tutu Tuesday. It's a movement that truly speaks to my soul! We're talking about embracing the twirling power of a tutu, but not just any tutu, we're talking #discotutu. Picture this: Pink, glitter, sequins, and a touch of disco flair that would make even the most serious ballet critic do a double take!

Now, I'm no stranger to Crewe. I've graced the stages of the local theatre with my pirouettes, but let's be real, the vibe in this town needed a little bit of sparkle! So, I decided to start my own little Tutu Tuesday revolution. The response was simply sensational, a total triumph of sequins over socks. Every week, the streets of Crewe are transformed into a wonderland of twirling and tutus.

Here are just a few of the glorious #tututuesday creations I've spotted this week:

  • My friend Sharon from the local coffee shop – a beautiful pink tutu adorned with rainbow-hued sequins. She's been telling me she's been secretly dying to unleash her inner ballerina for years, and let me tell you, she owned that #discotutu. It was divine! Her barista skills now include serving espresso and sparkling dance moves.
  • The baker down the road, Mrs. Wilkins, was rocking a black tulle tutu, but the star of the show was a gigantic glittering silver bow that she had placed right on the back. She told me that the big bow helped her move faster and more gracefully because she is now officially a dancing disco cupcake.
  • Even the butcher at our local butcher shop is getting into the spirit, donning a red velvet tutu paired with his classic white butcher's coat – quite a sight!
  • Our favourite pub, The Red Lion, hosted a Tutu Tuesday quiz. The best part? To answer questions you had to strike a ballet pose! I don't want to boast, but I managed to get the best score (and yes, my arabesque was exquisite).

The beauty of #tututuesday is its accessibility. You don’t need to be a professional dancer. Just add a sprinkle of confidence, a dash of fun and a dash of fabulous flair, and boom, you're ready to conquer Tutu Tuesday!

Speaking of flair, one of the most important components of any good #discotutu is the right accessories. Of course, pink is the perfect starting point (and honestly, every outfit can be made more fabulous by adding pink!), but I love incorporating things like oversized bows, feathers, and glitter, even just a touch to enhance the look! You’ve got to channel your inner diva, darling.

Now, it’s a very big deal when you see a truly remarkable #discotutu. It must meet my ultimate test – is it truly worthy of being called “#discosnail worthy” ?

I coined the phrase #discosnail myself, it’s based on my favourite mythical disco creature. The Disco Snail is legendary and only makes appearances on the most extravagant of occasions. Imagine a shell covered with shimmering disco balls, leaving a shimmering trail as it makes its way around the dance floor - THAT is what a #discosnail looks like.

I’m working on an illustrated guide to #discosnails for the Crewe Times – and all the outfits have been #discosnail worthy so far! But to get a glimpse of this mythical creature you have to venture out yourself and see the streets of Crewe transform into a symphony of shimmering colour! Tutus, pink and disco beats, all brought to life with our signature #discotutu. I'm truly excited to see what incredible #discotutu outfits I spot on the streets next! #tututuesday.
