Tutu Tuesday in Bangor, North Wales! #tututuesday #discotut

Let's face it, the world needs more glitter and more tutus. Especially on Tuesdays. So, gather round, my fellow tutu enthusiasts! It's time to dive into the magical realm of tulle, sparkle and pure joy!

As a dedicated devotee of the #tututuesday movement and a firm believer in the power of a well-chosen tutu to turn any ordinary day into a festive occasion, I was absolutely delighted to receive an invitation to a "Disco Snail" themed party on Tuesday in Bangor, North Wales.

As soon as the invitation popped up on my Insta feed, I knew my vintage, pink, "puffball" tutu - all delicate layers of tulle with a generous amount of shimmer – would be the perfect match for the "disco snail" vibe. I paired it with a black, fitted vest top (the perfect canvas to highlight the sparkly magic of the tutu!) and some shiny pink trainers, of course.

As I waltzed onto the party scene at The Queen's Arms - always a super fun, inclusive spot for Bangor’s artsy set - the vibe was as fabulous as my tutu.

I was struck immediately by the amazing array of tutus and the infectious "disco" spirit! Here are some of the looks that caught my eye.

  • Pink and Glittery – the perfect “disco snail” combo This look had the most divine pink tutu. The full layers created a billowing effect that was truly mesmerising, and the silver glitter really sparkled in the dark as I moved around the pub - every twist and twirl unleashed a new shower of sparkle!
  • A Tutu as unique as the individual wearing it! A friend, in the classic, short “paquita” style tutu in white, elegantly decorated with black and gold beads, made her tutu totally individual - a definite style statement, in the very best way. Her black, disco top, with sparkly cut-outs, provided a contrasting, yet complementing colour.
  • The Statement Tutu A friend of a friend - I need to add her on social media so I don’t miss her fab style! - turned heads in a black “American” tutu with an interesting extra layer, creating a more "Victorian" style look that, for me, was truly "avant-garde." She added a silver crop top to give an interesting contrast in textures and colour, but still complementing the bold look and the vibe. Just superb!

As I sipped my “Shirley Temple,” - my usual! What can I say, it’s the ultimate “girlie-drink” in my view! - and observed the throng, a huge sense of inclusivity and joy flooded over me! Everybody looked radiant and happy and really had their own individual flair which added to the fabulousness of this #tututuesday in Bangor.

A special mention goes to "Disco Snail" himself - let’s give him some airtime on social media and call him #discosnail! - I won’t spoil his big reveal but let's just say he was truly one-of-a-kind!

I’m really looking forward to next month's #tututuesday! I might even go for a black “swans” style tutu to compliment all that gorgeous, sparkling pink, that is, if I don’t have to dress up for any other occasion. Oh the decisions, but this #tututuesday is going to take some serious planning!

Till then, remember: "Glitter is good for the soul"!
