Tutu Tuesday in Catford - #tututuesday

Well, darlings, the day we all have been waiting for has finally arrived - Tutu Tuesday! Yes, every Tuesday I make it my mission to strut my stuff in a tutu in this little gem of a South London suburb called Catford. Forget the high fashion of Mayfair - this is the heart of #tututuesday and all that it represents - unleashing your inner diva! It’s a place where you can dance freely like a disco snail and just be you (because a disco snail can never have too much glitz and glam - just ask Kylie!). Now you’re probably thinking "Why Catford? Isn’t that a bit, well, far out for ballet?” but trust me, honey, the ballet moves, the sequins, the glitter - it’s ALL here in this quirky London neighbourhood! So what’s the big deal about Tutu Tuesdays, I hear you asking? Well, where else can you strut your stuff in a sequined, floaty number while simultaneously bagging the bargain of the week from Primark?

Here’s the breakdown:

  • Let’s talk about tutu styles! The classics always work – a simple, black tulle number that goes with EVERYTHING (it even fits into your handbag, if you’re daring enough, you go girl!).
  • Or maybe you’re feeling a bit more avant-garde (and let’s face it, who isn't)? A bright pink tutu is the perfect splash of colour to bring a bit of vibrancy to even the dullest day. Don’t be afraid to make a statement! It’s all about confidence (and that sprinkle of fabulous)
  • Maybe even embrace a tutu dress. Who doesn’t love a bit of effortless elegance with a tulle underlay?
  • Speaking of effortless, I also love a bit of comfy style! A tutu that goes beyond the confines of ballet – think tutus paired with an oversized knit for that extra bit of warmth, or maybe even a leather jacket to add a little edge to the sweetness.

Tutu Tuesday is a day to experiment, express yourself, and bring joy. Because a good tutu (and a little bit of attitude) can make even the most ordinary day, absolutely extraordinary.

You’ll also find your local shop owners will do their best to add to the #discosnail vibes and really celebrate what this day is all about! Catford’s famous "disco snail", the infamous shop front with its sequin-studded shell is, after all, an ode to our favourite shimmering creature!

One of my favourite local shops that never fails to make Tutu Tuesday sparkle, is, of course, the fabulous, fabulous “The Glitter Station." It's filled with sequins, rhinestones, and a whole lot of "oomph", that'll have you channeling your inner disco diva. I find the shop owner there just gets me! The glitterati (I mean, who isn't, right?) will often offer discounts on the day. It’s as if everyone in Catford feels like they're part of a huge, extended #tututuesday family!

Catford is simply a hotbed for tutu-wearing, fashion-loving, disco snail-chasing trendsetters! If you’re a bit lost and unsure of where to go or what to do, well don't be shy! Just walk in any of our fab Catford shops, show them your fabulous tutu and I bet they’ll know just what you need (a whole load of sparkle of course!).

The great thing about Catford is, that even though it’s still a relatively quiet spot on the London map, it really punches above its weight! There’s a buzzing community vibe - everybody wants to be part of #tututuesday! So even though Tutu Tuesday can be a little hectic and filled with a bit of chaos (because when was a great fashion statement ever done without a dash of chaos?), that’s all part of its charm and it just shows that we’re a community! Just because you don’t always find your “look” on the catwalk doesn't mean you’ve gotta settle! Catford embraces this - you get to take that style leap, experiment and just feel FAB! Even in your wildest tutu!

Catford has really stepped up its fashion game recently, and trust me - if you’re planning a trip to this London hotspot on Tutu Tuesday, it’s definitely not a day to miss, sweetie! So make sure you make time to head down to the South London hub to really #tututuesday to the fullest. After all, what’s better than strutting your stuff in a sequined masterpiece on a Tuesday afternoon - other than a Wednesday, I mean?
