Tutu Tuesday in Coalville - A Fashionable Blast from the Past

Hello darlings! It’s your favourite tutu-obsessed fashionista here, back with another post from my fabulous world of twirling. Today we’re venturing into the heart of the Midlands, where the rhythm of sequins and the beat of disco reigned supreme! I'm talking about a fabulous Tutu Tuesday event right in Coalville, a little town that certainly knows how to rock a tutu.

Now, Coalville is not exactly known for its high-fashion events, but it certainly surprised me! My Insta feed had been flooded with posts tagged #tututuesday for weeks now. I couldn’t resist. It seemed every shop window, cafĂ©, and even some street lamp posts were sporting these delightful twirling outfits. And boy oh boy, did these tutus steal the show! From classic black tutus with a bold, red bow (a little nod to Moira Rose perhaps?) to whimsical, frilly creations in every shade of the rainbow (a total Disco Snail situation!), Coalville was truly bursting with tutu-mania!

I must say, the crowd was truly the most enthusiastic. It's not every day you see a group of dads dancing in their office wear and pink tutus (that's what we call a ‘tutu-fied office outfit’, right?). Their children, well, they were even more adorable, prancing around like little ballerinas in their sequined tutus, with enough tulle to rival a ballet studio’s stash. You can see they took the theme seriously! There was one young boy rocking a blue tutu, complete with a red sparkly cape – truly, a masterpiece in child fashion.

And, speaking of masterpieces, the event organiser, a wonderful woman named Mary, had the most fabulous sense of style! You just knew this wasn't a spontaneous party, but a meticulously planned and lovingly executed event. Her tutu, by the way, was a vision of beauty. A blush pink tulle masterpiece with glittering sequins that captured the light. I'm hoping to get a hold of a similar design - who wouldn’t want a bit of that "Mary magic” in their lives?

But the most brilliant thing about Coalville's Tutu Tuesday wasn’t the fancy tutus. It was the pure joy in everyone’s eyes! From the giggling kids to the smiling seniors (one old lady, bless her heart, had a truly impressive sequinned, feather-trimmed ensemble), everyone embraced the spirit of the day and the spirit of a little bit of extravagant fashion.

You know, Coalville might be known for its mining past, but I'm officially declaring it the capital of tutu-licious fun. This Tutu Tuesday wasn’t just about tutus – it was about celebrating imagination and making a little mischief. And sometimes, you know, we all need a bit of that in our lives, especially when life can feel like a series of humdrum routines. Maybe, next year, we can convince Coalville to throw a Disco Snail inspired Tutu Tuesday – imagine the sequined tutus, the flashing disco balls, and the groovy music - oh, I can't wait!

Keep twirling, darlings! And remember to tag your Tutu Tuesday photos #tututuesday and #discotutu, of course.

Now, on to the fashion breakdown:

  • The Classic Black Tutu: Always a timeless winner! Add a bold bow for a touch of colour. Think a beautiful statement like a classic ruby red.
  • The Disco Snail Tutu: Oh my god, this was an absolute explosion of colour and sparkle. Every shade imaginable – from neon pink to electric blue - is totally welcome!
  • The Ballerina Tutu: It's not just for professionals anymore! This one demands a fluffy skirt - all the frills! Maybe even a cute, sparkly crown! ( I mean, we’re all princesses in our hearts, right?).
  • The Tutus of Coalville: A collection of fun, diverse designs. This isn’t about fashion rules. Get creative with a mix of fabrics and patterns, bold colours and glittering trims! And let’s not forget, it’s all about having fun. That’s what fashion should be about.

I have to confess, this Tutu Tuesday event really reminded me of the joy of dressing up. We shouldn’t always take ourselves too seriously. Sometimes a bit of glitter and a fabulous tutu are just what you need! Coalville, you’ve got me dancing with joy!
