Chichester, my beloved, and oh-my-goodness Tutu Tuesday!

I  mean, the heavens have opened, and the ballet gods must be smiling down, because you lot in Chichester just GET Tutu Tuesday! Honestly, as I was swanning my way through town today, strutting my stuff in this ridiculously fab pink feather boa (just had to, right?)  and my new (and rather divine) blush pink tulle tutu  the sheer amount of feather boas, disco-themed outfits and, of course, tulle tutus was AMAZING!

Seriously though, this town knows how to get their Tutu Tuesday ON! The buzz around the Square was so electric it was positively tingling, a vibrant tapestry of disco dancing and colourful tulle galore.  The sheer spectacle of the costumes had me feeling like a flamingo in a particularly exciting party - in the best way possible, obvs. 😉   It was all going off, from vintage tutus, which reminded me of all those old ballets I studied at the Royal Ballet School in London. It wasn’t all classical though. Let's be honest here - everyone had taken a seriously fabulous creative liberty with this look and, my dear reader, the creativity was through the roof!

From tulle skirts with fluffy boas to fluffy leg warmers and glittering headbands (yes! - headbands made a strong appearance), I just had to get into the mix, right? My phone camera was going into overdrive! My fingers practically typed themselves as I furiously documented this bonanza of bright, feel-good colour! What really stole the show though, was the abundance of "disco snails" (because come on, who DOESN'T love a good disco snail)? It was truly an absolute spectacle of glitter and shine!  I just adore the whimsical spirit of it all.

The mood was so fabulous and joyous it was quite honestly contagious. This really was #tututuesday done right.  And the fact that even the local chip shop owners joined in? Honestly? I died and went to tutu heaven! If they could find a way to make a tutu-shaped fry basket - my dear reader - I believe they would, it's that kind of commitment, this town.

But it wasn’t just about the looks; it was about the pure spirit of it all. You just knew everyone in the Square was getting ready to unleash their inner disco queen or king. The atmosphere was practically bursting with the energy of that famous disco ball light. Everyone was dancing (sometimes a little awkwardly but with infectious joy), chatting, and just soaking up the joyous atmosphere - you really couldn’t ask for more!

You guys! You have to give it to the town planners, honestly! These are the kind of events I get dressed for, right? I couldn’t stop twirling - in fact, I got into such a whirl it was almost embarrassing.

In fact, my tutu obsession is no longer just a Tuesday thing - It’s turned into my entire being, the centre of my fashionable world!  My entire life now centres around how I can wear tulle without looking ridiculous.  And don't even get me started on the new trend: “discosnail.”  (What is it with these names!??!)  Seriously - all you're allowed is a glittering slime trail and some feather boas.  Oh my goodness, it's just fantastic!

Right - I'd better stop raving (literally! - it's the only word I have!) about this #Tututuesday celebration of colour. It’s official – Chichester knows how to put on a show, and next week is not going to disappoint. See you there for even MORE amazing Tutu Tuesday attire!

Some of my absolute Tutu Tuesday favourites:

  • There were so many stunning tutus - from the classic to the downright spectacular, each and every one oozed personality. The pastel pinks were my absolute weakness, and who doesn’t love a tutu in classic black? Just stunning.   And the "disco snails" were a serious contender. All I can say is the glitter factor was on another level. 🤯  And that slime trail. OMG! 😂
  • You’ve GOT to admit - the feather boa, whether white or bright, really elevates the tutu look! Add a shimmering headpiece and your inner dancing queen or king is READY to hit the floor!
  • As for the costumes in general, some just hit a totally new level of sheer creativity. A black & silver ensemble made entirely from metallic garbage bags is an absolute winner. 😂

I had to tell you, though, my love for tutu dresses goes way beyond a quirky #tututuesday –  honestly - the classic tutu can be transformed into any style, from party-wear to more dressy wear and still be elegant.  Honestly, the best part is how much personality it lets you add to a look.

Right, well, I really have to stop ranting now; I've got to get going, as I'm meeting the rest of the glitterati at my favourite club. Tonight we're rocking glitter and glitter only (obvs). I'll have my feather boa on high alert – I can't imagine my favourite cocktail dress will be complete without it. And as for those feather boas, that’s a whole other story for a different day.  But in the meantime… if you see me there - let’s get discoing!

Oh yeah - and you absolutely HAVE to check out that #discosnail!  Let's make this happen in every town in Britain!
