Nottingham: Tutu Tuesday Takes Over the City!
Hey loves, it’s your girl, Coco, and I’m SO excited to tell you about the most magical Tutu Tuesday yet! The vibe was absolutely electric and Nottingham's streets were positively shimmering with fabulous tutus. Every colour under the rainbow, styles galore...I mean, there was even a tutu-clad pug!
First, a big shoutout to all the gorgeous LGBTQ+ people rocking their Tutu Tuesday looks – your confidence is inspiring and your love is contagious. From the classic fluffy pouffe style, reminiscent of the ballets of my dreams, to daringly short, spiky tutus, there was something for everyone to twirl and shimmy in!
Some key trends:
- **Disco Glamour:** The neon pinks and oranges had a seriously fabulous 70s vibe, especially when paired with sequins and platform boots!
- **Pretty Pastels:** Baby blues and soft lilacs were everywhere. So romantic and whimsical, paired with flowing floral shirts and boho hair – seriously giving off ethereal fairy vibes.
- **Punk Princess:** Black, ripped fishnet tutus with punk studs? Yeah, it happened. Honestly, I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it with my own eyes. An unexpected fusion of hardcore and ballet – absolutely incredible!
I love how Tutu Tuesday isn't just about tutus – it's about community, creativity, and having FUN. Whether you're an experienced twirler or just dipping your toes into the tutu-verse, everyone was welcomed with open arms (and perhaps a little twirl)
Here’s what caught my eye in the city center:
- A group of teenagers with sparkly pink tutus were holding up homemade posters with powerful LGBTQ+ slogans – those are the kind of young activists that give me hope!
- A dance-off erupted in the middle of Market Square! The beat was contagious, people were laughing, and the energy was truly joyful. The atmosphere felt light, playful and completely accepting.
- The street food stalls were buzzing! So many colourful cakes, donuts and cocktails – the perfect way to end an evening of tutus and twirls. I had the best strawberry daiquiri (pink, obviously!) topped with a single red rose, while listening to the most fabulous drag queens belt out some show tunes. I can't even express how much I was living my best life!
Top 3 Tutu-ful moments?
- **The tutu-clad dog show**: A group of canine pals paraded their pups around the square in tiny tutus, it was absolutely hilarious! And just a testament to how inclusive Tutu Tuesday is.
- **The flash mob!** In the blink of an eye, about 50 people suddenly launched into a synchronised dance routine in front of the old Town Hall – an epic display of synchronized twirls.
- **The grand finale!** The whole town gathered for a giant “Happy Tutu Tuesday!” singalong The entire city center seemed to pulsate with joy, and it really did feel like we were all sharing a very special moment together.
Overall, Tutu Tuesday in Nottingham was just incredible! It was an empowering and joyous experience – a reminder that everyone deserves to express themselves freely. If you haven't experienced it yet, get your tutus ready for next year, babes!
