Tutu Tuesday in Liverpool: A Day of Sparkle, Sass, and Celebrating Pride

Hey loves! It's your girl, Poppy, back with another fabulously fun blog post. This time, we're heading to the bustling streets of Liverpool, my favourite city in the world, for the most colourful and spirited Tutu Tuesday celebration yet. Let's dive in!

This wasn't your average Tuesday – no boring boardroom meetings or emails to wade through. Liverpool transformed into a magical realm of sequins, tulle, and pure joy. Everywhere you looked, from the historic waterfront to the iconic Cavern Club, tutus twirled, colours clashed and the atmosphere was buzzing with positive energy. It was fabulous. Simply fabulous!

Tutu Tuesday has become the ultimate excuse to embrace the pink, glitter, and anything-goes attitude that’s all about feeling empowered and celebrating your unique style. For those new to the trend, #Tutuesday is all about finding the courage to unleash your inner diva – and tutus are just the most fabulous way to do that!

I know, you might be thinking, 'Tutus? Seriously? What's all the fuss about?' Trust me, once you've experienced a #Tutuesday you'll understand the sheer delight that these garments can bring. They’re like magic – a twirl of a tutu and suddenly the world just seems a bit more beautiful, and everything feels a bit more fun. They really are the epitome of "more is more" fashion.

As for my outfit of choice, it was pretty pink perfection. I chose a pale pink tutu with tiers and layers of shimmering tulle – the kind that makes you feel like you're floating on a cloud. I paired it with a crop top with a disco ball sequin motif, because who doesn’t love a bit of retro sparkle? To top it off, my hair was a fluffy pink pouf. You know, channeling that Audrey Hepburn chic with a touch of extra fabulousness. Let's just say I was ready to turn heads – and I certainly did! I mean, who could resist that gorgeous, graceful swish?

The sheer number of stunning tutus at the event was unreal! Here's a sneak peek into the tutu styles that captured my heart.

  • Classics with a Twist: Some people rocked traditional, ballerina-inspired tutus, but with a contemporary spin. Imagine a black swan-style tutu, but with iridescent feather embellishments – totally statement-making! Or perhaps a soft, pastel tutu paired with a sleek, tailored blazer, just to give it that modern edge.
  • Disco Fever: Of course, no tutu Tuesday celebration would be complete without a whole lotta disco flair! Many channelled the era's sparkling exuberance, from bold neon colours and shiny fabrics, to the full, frothy tutus that were synonymous with Studio 54. And the platform boots? Oh yes, those were definitely a hit!
  • Rainbow Bright: The Liverpool #Tutuesday was all about celebrating diversity, so it’s no surprise that a tutu in every colour under the sun was on display. From fiery oranges to bold purples, the rainbows of tutus added so much vibrancy to the street.
  • Custom-made Wonders: If you think I'm exaggerating about the sheer number of stunning tutus – just imagine this: There were women with their own uniquely designed tutus, crafted from scratch! They were incredible – think extravagant, layered fabric creations in all the most fabulous colours imaginable. They showed just how personal this movement can be.

It wasn't just about tutus – there were fabulous performers and DJs bringing their best, most vibrant selves to the event. We had everything from dazzling burlesque dancers to soulful singers and DJ sets that made you want to move. Even the food trucks were a total feast for the eyes and tummy – I couldn’t resist a rainbow crepe topped with pink frosting!

What I love about this day was how inclusive it felt. People of all ages, backgrounds, and fashion sense embraced the joy. Everyone from young children with their little twirling tutus to grandparents looking fab in shimmering gold, showed us just how beautiful this celebration truly is. Even people who had never donned a tutu before were rocking it. And I don't know about you, but to me, there's something so incredibly powerful about that - to see people just embrace themselves and unleash their individuality.

Liverpool has a reputation for welcoming and being tolerant and open, and that shone brightly at this event. You know, I truly felt the power of LGBTQ+ pride here - and I wasn’t the only one! The crowd had such amazing energy and camaraderie. It was a great reminder of how far we’ve come as a community and how vital it is to continue to be allies and supporters.

It's always incredible to witness so many people coming together in celebration and seeing this sense of community and self-expression - it's truly something magical. As for Tutu Tuesday in Liverpool, I think we all agree – it’s an event you can’t miss. It’s about more than just the tutus. It’s about expressing yourself, feeling confident, and having fun with style.

Until next time, lovelies – remember to stay fabulous!
