Bournemouth: Tutu Tuesday Sparkle & Shine

Hello fellow tutu lovers! It's your girl, Amelia, and guess what? It's Tutu Tuesday! This magical day, dedicated to all things tulle and twirls, has been lighting up Bournemouth and my Instagram feed in a whirlwind of pink and glitter. Let's be honest, you can never have too much tutu in your life, and this week has proven that! From the classic romantic tutus with layers of soft, ethereal tulle, to the modern, daring, asymmetrical designs, the streets of Bournemouth were buzzing with every imaginable style imaginable! And who knew, my fellow fashionistas, that the sunshine and disco vibes that #tututuesday brought with it could go so perfectly with the sparkle and drama of a full tutu? It really was a dream. This week’s tutu fun kicked off early with my best friend and fellow ballet bunny, Chloe, and I getting a “Tutu Tuesday” breakfast in town. It wasn’t exactly a *breakfast of champions* (we had some *questionable* choices like rainbow coloured doughnuts with sprinkles) but it was absolutely gorgeous and very Insta-worthy (the doughnuts, not the questionable part!). Our morning was filled with enough sparkly fun to set off a glitter bomb and we certainly turned a few heads with our eye-catching tutus! Chloe opted for a classic blush-toned romantic tutu which was absolutely adorable - her tulle was so billowing and it made her look like a pink ballet dream come true. Of course, I’m a bold statement girl so I went with an ultra-pink, fluffy, modern asymmetrical tutu which paired beautifully with my sassy pink disco pants and bright-pink studded ballet flats. The crowd loved it! Everyone was all, “You go girl!”, “Fab, fabulous!,” “I love your sparkle, honey!”, and “Get it! Queen!”. Chloe and I continued to take over Bournemouth, stopping to shop in a few boutique stores while spreading the Tutu Tuesday gospel to any willing ear! • Sparkly Chic at Boutique Bliss Of course, we could not go through a fashion spree without picking up some sparkly new dance gear. And yes, our #tutupride is a whole vibe so this also meant that our little shopping excursion became part of #tututuesday celebrations! You know me. I’m an absolute glitter nut, and I found this incredible new tutu - with a holographic pink sequin skirt, layered with multiple shades of lavender and peach tulle, at a charming boutique called Belle Boutique! Chloe scored a stylish sparkly top and gorgeous little floral headband that she decided to wear with her tutu for a bohemian, country ballerina look which was simply fabulous. And it was so funny, even the shop owner decided to join the #tututuesday madness and ended up pairing a pair of stylish floral pink overalls with a white fluffy tutu! This woman, I have to admit, had the best of #tututuesday style! • Tutu-tastic Afternoon Tea! Later that day we hit the iconic Victorian-era ballroom Bournemouth town hall, to celebrate the day with an elaborate Tutu Tuesday Afternoon Tea, complete with a selection of beautifully decorated cupcakes and an elaborate tea menu featuring everything from earl grey to elderflower fizz. This, of course, all happened under the twinkling of a magical disco ball and accompanied by some disco beats! We arrived at the tea party in all our #tututuesday glory, causing quite a stir amongst the tea-sipping society set! However, there were lots of “aww-so-cute”, “oh-my-god!”, and “what an amazing idea!” comments from the more mature guests who embraced the tutu joy that our group had brought with them! After our tea, Chloe and I ended the day with a spot of spontaneous ballet on the promenade – it was such a beautiful sunny day with gorgeous turquoise-blue skies. And even though we are still quite a ways off from becoming prima ballerinas, we were the happiest, glitziest, sparkliest dancing bunnies you ever did see!
