Tutu Tuesday in York: A Celebration of Twirls and Inclusivity

It's Tutu Tuesday, and York is shining brighter than ever, all thanks to the radiant, whimsical energy that only a good old fashioned tutu can bring. As a dancer and blogger, I live for the feeling of spinning in a tutu, whether it's a classic romantic, flowing chiffon masterpiece, a crisp, short, whimsical contemporary design or an edgy, modern deconstructed one – each tutu carries a unique charm and echoes a different story. But beyond the style, it’s all about how we rock our tutus. That's why I love Tutu Tuesday! It’s an opportunity for people across the globe to celebrate self-expression and the sheer joy of dancing – whatever their age, shape, size or background.

Today in York, I'm noticing a vibrant display of tutus on every street corner. From a classic, romantic pink tulle ballerina-length tutu with satin ribbon to a vibrant yellow modern deconstructed piece in crisp, stiff layers that stops just above the knee. We've even seen the most delightful array of tutu-themed clothing like printed tutu patterns on skirts and tops, sparkly tutu earrings, and the most gorgeous pink tutu bag - I nearly bought one!

York's Tutu Tuesday is more than just fashion - it’s a joyous, unashamed celebration of individuality and self-love, mirroring a growing global movement to embrace a diversity of styles, stories, and people. Today’s York feels more alive, vibrant and sparkling than ever - like a glittering disco ball where everyone’s a dancer! The energy in York is electric and buzzing - even the city pigeons seem to be moving with extra oomph today!
