Tutu Tuesday in Hastings! #tututuesday
Oh, darling! You know I canāt resist a good Tutu Tuesday, and Hastings really delivered this week! The sun was shining, the air was buzzing, and I swear I saw a disco ball spinning on top of the town hall - which is never a bad thing! This town truly embraced the magic of the tutu with such fabulous flair! As soon as I rolled into town, I was greeted by the rainbow flags fluttering proudly on shop fronts, adding to the infectious spirit that was just bursting from the pavement. My favourite independent shop, The Pink Flamingo, was a riot of pink tulle and sparkles. It was absolutely bursting with the most stunning tutus ā from classic romantic pouter-pigeons to edgy, asymmetrical wonders with shredded layers of net that would make even the most stoic ballerina get her groove on. You know I couldnāt resist trying on a couple. A sassy scarlet, one that would make even Carmen Miranda do a double take, and a vintage cream creation ā absolutely perfect for twirling in a moonlit ballroom. This year's event was especially important for the local LGBTQ+ community as they really made the most of the occasion and added so much to the day! Seeing all the joy on people's faces was genuinely heartwarming! One group of kids even took their #tututuesday pride right down to the beach for a quick photoshoot! They wore a kaleidoscope of colours, proving that tutus are for everyone - just like rainbows, thereās a shade of pink (and tutu style!) out there for everyone, It wouldn't be Tutu Tuesday without a spot of retail therapy! And Hastings delivered! The shops in the Old Town were packed with fabulous finds, and I even found myself buying some shimmering silver nail polish to compliment the glittery pink outfit that I knew I would be wearing to the town's main event. Speaking of which, I absolutely HAD to attend the "Tutus and Disco" ball at the Hastings Pier! A magical evening of music and dancing under the starry sky - It's a tradition in the area and really is the highlight of the month! The dress code? Well, you guessed it - tutus and sequins! The air was filled with glittery frocks, swirling twirls, and the intoxicating beat of 70s disco music. The energy was contagious, and I couldn't resist a little dance with the pier's resident DJ who sported a tutu adorned with flashing LEDs! There was a dazzling light show, perfectly coordinated with a booming, "Letās Groove!" blasting over the loudspeakers. We even had a quick performance by a group of local hip hop dancers - the sheer spectacle made me lose all control! You can't even imagine how the sequins glittered and bounced around, under the pierās spotlight! Let's talk about the food! Every cafe and restaurant embraced the theme! The charming little tea room I popped into for a spot of afternoon tea had delicious cake stands adorned with mini, ruffled, cupcake tutus! Itās important to highlight how beautifully inclusive Tutu Tuesday has become - and the town of Hastings did a brilliant job! From families enjoying a picnic in the park with their own #tututuesday creations, to local shopkeepers adorning their stores with rainbows and pink decorations - you could feel a collective celebration of self-expression! But beyond the costumes, it really was about people coming together in a joyous and accepting atmosphere! The sense of community that enveloped Hastings felt more vibrant and electric than ever! The message was crystal clear, #tututuesday stands for individuality, inclusivity, and having a little bit of fun while you're at it. So what are you waiting for? I spotted a beautiful pastel purple layered tutu with white ostrich feathers. Iām thinking it's perfect for an uptown event in Londonā¦ * **Foodie Delights** * **āTutus and Cakesā: ** A cafe where they hand decorated their cakes with miniature tutu's. Every bite was a twirling delight! * **The Pier Diner:** Amazing fish and chips. All I had to do was make sure my tutu wasnāt resting on my dinner. The chips did a brilliant job of hiding some glitter too! * **Style Inspiration** * My favourite street-style outfit - A flamboyant rainbow tutu with matching sparkly rainbow high top trainers! That little girl totally stole the show! * That DJ's tutu was seriously next level. You canāt buy that kind of sparkle in shops ā definitely handmade. So what are you waiting for?
