Tutu Tuesday in Scunthorpe: A Celebration of Sparkle and Pride

Oh, my darlings, you know what this means โ€“ itโ€™s Tutu Tuesday! This week, Iโ€™m bringing you all the glitter and glam from my home town of Scunthorpe. Iโ€™m all about embracing individuality, spreading some joy and #tututuesday is a fantastic way to do it, especially in our fabulous little corner of the world! Now, while many think of tutus and ballet in a more formal, perhaps classical setting, Scunthorpe is proof that Tutu Tuesday can be enjoyed in all its glory โ€“ even in a place where steel production is king! ๐Ÿ˜œ There's a lot to love about a tutu, even if you're not a professional ballerina! We've got every colour of the rainbow to choose from! For some reason pink is my personal fave โ€“ just like the fabulous pink glitter bomb I had for Tutu Tuesday last month, a definite #tutupride moment! ๐Ÿ’— But back to Scunthorpe and its lovely peopleโ€ฆ Let's face it, every town has its own personality, right? The one thing we Scunthorpe folks have in abundance, you ask? We've got a good dose of sass โ€“ plus, we never shy away from expressing ourselves. I reckon this definitely helps explain why #tututuesday has caught on here so quickly and Iโ€™m proud that so many people of Scunthorpe are choosing to join the movement!

A Scunthorpe tutu for every style

  • Let's talk tutu styles! I adore my classic Romantic era ballerina tutus, a soft, frothy ballet style โ€“ perfect for swirling, dancing and striking poses!
  • I also love the classic tutus from the early 20th century; the kind made for professional ballerinas โ€“ super stylish but really versatile! These can be great for fashion statement or dancing on the dancefloor!
  • I even recently got a lovely short tulle tutu to pair with some cute biker shorts and a bomber jacket for an amazing street style vibe. And letโ€™s face it, it looked fabulously glamorous! ๐Ÿ˜ If you can imagine it, Scunthorpe folks are making it happen!

Sharing joy through tutus, dance, and everything pink!

On a recent #tututuesday I danced a short sequence in the main square in front of the Town Hall. Let me tell you โ€“ that's some prime location right there in Scunthorpe! With my tutu on, I whipped up a little ballet combo and some dance moves and felt free โ€“ not only free of judgement, but filled with pride! Everyone just smiled and cheered, clapping along. My inner-child was thrilled with all the attention. But honestly, it was even more magical watching people get swept away by the joyful energy and laughter in the air.

Beyond tutus: A spotlight on Scunthorpe's LGBTQ+ Pride

You guys know that being able to be oneself is my #tututuesday message. The real meaning behind it all is not just sparkly tulle and spinning, although we do have the spinning! ๐Ÿ˜‚ My hope is to make it about acceptance and love! But Iโ€™m also excited that Tutu Tuesday resonates with the Scunthorpe LGBTQ+ community and how they express themselves through self-expression and color. Theyโ€™ve really embraced #tututuesday as their own โ€“ from bright, colourful costumes to fab rainbow makeup โ€“ it's truly inspiring and heartwarming. And, let's be honest, super glam!

A final word for the Tutu-lovers of Scunthorpe

Scunthorpe is such a lively town โ€“ a fantastic place for creative minds and people that don't hold back. So, if you are thinking of participating, don't be shy! There are tutus for everyone! And there's always someone who wants to dance and spin in a fabulous tutu. Just bring your love of pink, disco, and a little bit of magic! I look forward to seeing you strut your stuff, my fellow Tutu Twirlers. And be sure to follow me on socials @ballerinaT! ๐Ÿ’œ
