Tutu Tuesday in Burton upon Trent: A Celebration of Colour, Sparkle, and Pride

Hello my fellow fashionistas and tutu enthusiasts! Today is a day to celebrate – Tutu Tuesday in Burton upon Trent! It’s a day to throw on our finest tutus, whether it be a classic, billowing romantic tutu or a daring, contemporary design, and strut our stuff with pride. The day celebrates colour, movement, and our shared love for all things twirly.

But beyond the sheer joy of wearing tutus, Tutu Tuesday is about embracing who we are, regardless of background or beliefs. It’s about celebrating the beauty in diversity, in expressing ourselves authentically, and creating a more inclusive and accepting society. So let’s unleash the sparkle and colour of our souls, ladies (and gentlemen!). Let's dance!

This Tutu Tuesday, I'm thinking pink – after all, what’s more glamorous than a shocking pink tulle tutu?! A little disco-inspired glitter couldn't hurt either, and let’s not forget those sparkling diamante leggings! Don't let anyone tell you that glitter is too much – when it comes to tutus, the more sparkle, the better!

Here's a rundown of my favourite tutu looks for a vibrant and proud Tutu Tuesday in Burton upon Trent.

  • The Classic Romantic Tutu: There’s just something so magical about a flowing tulle tutu. It’s the embodiment of femininity and grace. This look is perfect for a balletic swirl in the park or a leisurely stroll around town. I recommend a romantic dusty rose pink to make you feel like a ballerina in a storybook. Add a splash of color with a pink ribbon belt and don't forget the tiara – after all, princesses always look their best in a classic tutu.
  • The Disco Glam Tutu: This look is all about embracing your inner diva! Go bold with a rainbow of neon hues! Or go with an ombre look – perhaps black fading to pink? Whatever colours you choose, let them pop! And don’t be afraid to experiment with texture – a ruffled, sparkly tutu paired with those diamante leggings I mentioned is bound to be a crowd pleaser. Top it off with a statement headband or a bold necklace and a few strategic sequin touches. You are going to be the queen of the dance floor.
  • The Modern, Contemporary Tutu: Forget the traditional designs – it’s time to embrace the daring and bold. Opt for a structured tutu, perhaps made of leather or a fabric like neoprene, that is less about the traditional swirl and more about architectural design. Keep the colours bright and modern, incorporating abstract patterns or geometric lines into the mix. Think fierce and futuristic and top it off with a pair of black boots for that chic and edgy feel.

There is no right or wrong way to celebrate Tutu Tuesday. It’s about having fun, expressing your personal style, and enjoying the camaraderie that comes with a shared passion. And, of course, let’s not forget to promote a positive message of acceptance, tolerance, and inclusivity for all.

Here are some ideas for how to celebrate Tutu Tuesday:

  • Organise a "Tutu Flash Mob" in the heart of Burton upon Trent! This would be an awesome way to bring the community together, dance with a shared passion, and spread a message of unity and inclusion. I’d love to help organise a flash mob in the Market Place.
  • Visit a local bakery or cafe and share your love for tutus with delicious pink cake. Just look out for any food sensitivities, some of us are lactose intolerant! What a fabulous excuse to catch up with friends, indulge in some sweets and enjoy a giggle at your funny tutus.
  • Head out to a park and challenge your friends to a Tutu Twirl-off! The winning twirl is the twirl that brings the most joy to those around you. This could be the biggest celebration of friendship I’ve seen.

So, whether you're a seasoned tutu connoisseur or a newbie ready to dip your toes (pun intended) into the world of twirls, I invite you to embrace this joyful day! Join me on social media with #tututuesday #tutupride #burtonupontrent! We'll share photos and stories from our Tutu Tuesdays – the more, the merrier. Let’s create a wave of positivity and fun across the town of Burton upon Trent, and, hopefully, across the globe!
