Tutu Tuesday in Chingford: A Celebration of Twirls, Sparkle and Pride!

It’s Tuesday, and you know what that means? #TUTUTUESDAY! It's a day for celebrating all things twirly, sparkly and just plain fun! And what better place to kick off my Tutu Tuesday than the lovely Chingford?

As a professional ballet dancer and proud blogger, I live for the fabulous, frothy tulle of a well-made tutu. There's a reason ballerinas love them, and there's a reason every other woman should, too. A tutu is the ultimate accessory that sparks a whole new level of self-confidence and, frankly, fierceness! I'm talking about rocking that perfectly pouffy, tiered confection that just makes you feel like a dancing dream! We can totally take this #tututuesday vibe to the next level and spread some of that good-time glitz all over Chingford.

Now, for the truly magnificent Chingford edition of my Tutu Tuesday adventures:

Firstly, a big shoutout to Chingford! This little slice of East London is truly a hidden gem. A lush green space with charming little pubs, lovely shops and beautiful parkland - it's the perfect place to let your tutu fly and feel a little bit special.

For me, Tutu Tuesday in Chingford starts with an essential ballet class at the fabulous Ballet Central dance school. I’m lucky enough to know one of the amazing teachers here, so we got the class going with some tutu-themed warm-up. A few graceful plies, elegant releves, and powerful tendus with a touch of disco-infused tumbling, just for the fun of it. We laughed and moved together, it was truly a wonderful experience. It's also the perfect way to really feel connected with your tutu and how it feels to move in it. After class, it’s time for a little coffee and scone break to energise myself for the big Chingford Market spree!

Chingford Market on Tuesdays is buzzing with energy and colour, a perfect mix for any Tutu Tuesday. I always make a beeline for the flower stall where bright pink hydrangeas, roses, and lilies are perfect to create a tutu-licious floral crown. You know I love a good pink theme! It always gives that extra flair for Tutu Tuesday and I always take photos. After all, we must capture these amazing #tututuesday memories!

The market stalls always have great quirky trinkets and clothes too. You can even find the most amazing tutus in the most unexpected places – it’s always a fun treasure hunt. The key is to look for the fabric that really catches your eye, even a vintage, vintage piece of lace can be turned into something fabulous. Maybe you could make yourself a one-off, signature Chingford tutu, right there, right then? It would make the ultimate statement, you'll be the talk of the market. You could even make your own little mini-fashion show there! After all, Chingford needs a bit of tutu magic.

And we cannot forget that we're on a mission to make Chingford a totally tutu-tastic place. What could be more perfect for a Tutu Tuesday than a good-old disco dance-a-thon in the park?! Get your disco-dancing shoes on, put on your tutus, and get ready to shimmy your way into an epic disco afternoon. We are all about getting those tutus twirling. The best part is that you don't even have to be a ballerina to join in on the fun - just put on your favourite disco clothes and let loose with a good dance party. You know I’ll be bringing my own signature disco tutu, I’m talking sparkly purple with a massive frill! It's a tutu to die for and you can bet that all the twirls will be extra special. Think of the amazing photos we'll be taking for Instagram. Hashtag #Tututuesday!

Now for some ideas for your Chingford #tututuesday, if you’re feeling extra adventurous:

  • Do you love those romantic ballerina styles that float around with the lightest possible layers of tulle? They are super classic and you can create some beautiful, flowing looks, maybe pair them with an adorable floral crown, perfect for that picnic vibe!
  • And for a bit more bold style there's the signature ballet tutu - a short number with dramatic tiers and maybe even some glittery, layered tulle. This one always makes a serious statement on the dance floor.
  • And who says a tutu has to be a fluffy thing anyway? For the edgy tutu lover, try something a little more structured with a touch of leather. This style is just a little more rock-n-roll with a little attitude, but still has a lot of fun with the fluff! Think vintage dance costumes - those really catchy designs with lots of tulle layered into the structure, so you get a bit more texture, you can find some beautiful vintage tutus online, and you know how much I love to support vintage fashion.

Now, you might be thinking that a tutu is a bit much for a day out in Chingford - that’s what makes it such a fabulous, bold move on Tutu Tuesday, it's going to set the stage for some unforgettable moments. We are spreading a little bit of magic to the locals and making it a place where everyone feels confident and ready to dance their way into the weekend. So come on down to Chingford and let's all have a little fun!

Just remember, #Tututuesday is more than just tutus – it's about empowering each other, accepting our true selves and letting our inner disco queens shine through, and Chingford is the perfect place for that!
