Now, if you haven't been living under a rock, you'll know that Tutu Tuesday is more than just a day; it's a celebration of all things dance, a whimsical dance of self-expression, a delightful riot of colours, and a moment where we say: “Yes, to the tutu! Yes, to the sparkle!” It’s about breaking down barriers, pushing the boundaries of fashion, and having a whole lot of fun while we’re at it. 💅
And Surbiton, oh Surbiton, you've done it again! You've truly embraced the spirit of Tutu Tuesday, transforming this little corner of the world into a dazzling showcase of creativity, community, and sheer joy. It's inspiring to see so many people from all walks of life rocking their best tutus – from classic, traditional, to contemporary and flamboyant! We saw tutus with ruffles, tutus with sequins, tutus with layers upon layers of airy fabric, and tutus that flowed gracefully as the wearer sashayed down the street. The whole town was awash in a beautiful ballet of colour, from delicate shades of pastel pink to vibrant fuchsia and cherry red!
We kicked off our Tutu Tuesday festivities at The Corner Cafe with a “Pink and Proud” breakfast extravaganza. Imagine pancakes piled high, slathered in pink whipped cream, sprinkled with pink candy hearts, and topped with a fresh berry, all for the bargain price of £4.99 – now that’s what I call a delicious way to start the day! It’s amazing to see local businesses like The Corner Cafe really embracing the spirit of #tututuesday, offering up some seriously delicious delights in the name of fashion and fun!
Of course, the true stars of the show are always the people, the vibrant personalities that come out in force to join in on the fun. This week, I spotted several groups of friends, dressed in matching tutus and coordinated sparkly headbands, walking hand-in-hand through town. There were a gaggle of giggling schoolgirls with DIY tutu projects (they'd swapped fabric scraps and ribbons at school for an afternoon of tutu-making!) and an adorable father-daughter duo with the sweetest matching tutus in blush pink and baby blue. The love and positivity were truly contagious.

- The *'Tutu-licious’ charity bake sale. We raised over £300 for the Surbiton Rainbow Project - the perfect blend of glitter, generosity, and LGBTQ+ support!
- The “Tutu-tastic” street dance. What better way to show off our tutus than by unleashing our inner disco queen on the dancefloor? It was pure magic! I spotted a group of teens recreating moves from *Dirty Dancing* – now that’s what I call #TutuPride!
- The *‘ Tutu Transformation Challenge: ' Our local beauty salon was offering free mini makeovers, with all the sparkly, shimmering, and fabulous glittery face paint and lipstick imaginable. It’s incredible to see so many people putting a little magic on their look to celebrate this amazing occasion.
- The #tututuesday photo booth was a HUGE hit. The backdrop was a dazzling array of pink streamers, disco balls, and tulle. And the smiles on everyone’s faces were practically radiant!
Surbiton is quickly becoming a haven for creative expression, a beacon of acceptance and joy.
