Tutu Tuesday in Hitchin: A Celebration of Sparkle, Sass, and Self-Expression

Oh my tutu, Hitchin, you really know how to party! It’s official, Tutu Tuesday has taken the town by storm, and it was *fla-bloody-bulous*! The air buzzed with excitement as fellow tutu enthusiasts, LGBTQ+ champions, and general fabulous folks descended upon the town centre, ready to unleash their inner prima ballerina and show the world just how much glitter and joy we can spread. I, your resident Tutu Tuesday advocate and resident disco queen (yes, it's me, you know my Instagram handle - if you don’t… go find me!) knew it was gonna be epic. After all, what’s better than a Tuesday night filled with disco tunes, flamboyant outfits, and smiles that could light up the night sky? And lemme tell you, these tutus did not disappoint! There was a veritable rainbow of colour on display, from the classic, billowing pink tutus of my dreams to dazzling blue numbers fit for a fairytale, all the way to playful black tulle concoctions dripping in sparkle. And speaking of sparkle, you could practically feel the shimmer in the air, as fellow tutu lovers twirled and posed with an undeniable swagger, showcasing tutus in all their glory. Let's be honest, it wasn't just about the tutus. It was about the sheer *joy* of expressing ourselves. Whether we were twirling in romantic pastel tutus or rocking a fierce, layered tulle tutu, each and every one of us had our own unique style on display, creating a visual feast of vibrant colour and personality.

The Power of Pink Personally, I was all about the pink this Tuesday, rocking a delightful, fluffy tulle tutu, all courtesy of a vintage costume shop - that vintage feel was definitely my jam! I felt like a princess twirling in a dream! Honestly, who needs a carriage when you can twirl down a cobbled street in a pink tutu, eh? Pink has always been synonymous with the fierce feminine, a colour that oozes sass and confidence. It's a colour that reminds us that life's too short to blend in! Pink, baby, it's our time to shine!

Where were we, you ask? The iconic market square of Hitchin. The music, my darlings, it was a glorious disco-themed extravaganza. I felt my body instinctively moving to the beat of iconic 70s anthems that reverberated across the town square.

Highlights from the Night: • There was this group of girls dressed as dazzling fairies, their tutus billowing in the breeze, creating ethereal visions of wonder and delight. • Let’s not forget the guys in tutus! One guy stood out, a tall handsome chap rocking a sassy black tutu that screamed "I'm here, I'm fabulous, and I'm ready to party!" Talk about a mood! • An LGBTQ+ family in full bloom - Mum, dad and their beautiful child all wearing matching colourful tutus! They looked so happy, they melted hearts just with their smiles. • And what would Tutu Tuesday be without a spot of impromptu dancing? The entire market square transformed into a giant dance floor, with folks twirling, leaping, and flailing to the beats, all wrapped up in the glorious infectious energy.

The Power of the Tutu  Tutus, it turns out, are not just about ballet, they are about freedom. They're about embracing our individuality, and the joy that comes from celebrating who we are. They're about knowing we are *enough*. In the words of RuPaul, *if you can’t love yourself, how in the hell you gonna love somebody else?* Well, in this instance, the tutu becomes our instrument of self-love, a symbol of confidence that says, yes, I’m fierce, and I'm not afraid to let it shine.

#tututuesday This night was a triumph, a joyous explosion of creativity and love, a resounding declaration of *it's good to be fabulous*. It reminded me why I adore being a part of the LGBTQ+ community: because we are all so freaking unique, all bursting with personality, and we love to celebrate those differences.

Tutu Tuesday in Hitchin was more than just a party, it was a movement, a movement that says *you go girl!* *you go boy!* *you go non-binary beauty*! If #tututuesday taught me anything, it’s that it’s never too late to twirl and celebrate the beauty that is inside all of us!
