Tutu Tuesday in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA: A Dance Through the City

Hey Tutu Lovers! It’s your girl, “Dancing with D,” back with another installment of Tutu Tuesday. This time, we're stepping right into the heart of the Big Easy, New Orleans, Louisiana, to soak up the unique style, rich history, and infectious energy that this city just radiates. I'm gonna let you in on a little secret—when it comes to tutus, this town knows how to make a statement, just like my trusty #tututuesday tradition.

My Instagram feed’s already popping with pics from my New Orleans adventures, but let me tell you, there's just something about seeing tutus twirl amidst the historic French Quarter architecture, the bustling Bourbon Street, and the enchanting jazz music floating through the air. It’s a scene that really transports you, making you feel like you’ve stepped back in time or are part of a dreamy musical.

For this #tututuesday, I wanted to bring a little vintage flair and a dash of New Orleans soul to my outfit choice. I opted for a softly romantic tutu—you know the kind: floaty and layered, in a light lavender hue. To add a bit of boldness and contrasting charm, I paired it with a black cropped tank top and a silver belt, cinching in the waist and creating a sleek silhouette. For the finishing touches? Some statement jewelry—a delicate silver necklace and dangling earrings—and a touch of glittery eyeshadow for a touch of New Orleans glamour.

The Tutu I wore today was just perfect, but New Orleans has a wide selection for the perfect outfit on any #tututuesday. I noticed lots of:

  • Romantic Tutu : Perfect for the historic streets. They were designed for flowing elegance! I love seeing them twirling along with the tourists.
  • Modern Tutus : New Orleans has a more contemporary art scene, so you'll find lots of creative dance groups using modern tutus—more bold, sharp and geometric styles for the stage.
  • Mardi Gras Inspiration: For the festive side of the city, the color palettes are incredible—lots of purple, gold and green for those wanting a little Carnival touch.

Speaking of dance scenes, it’s been inspiring to see ballet making such an impact in New Orleans. There are numerous ballet schools here, and the local ballet company is thriving— lots of talent, and the city has been making big strides in bringing this beautiful art form to a wider audience.

To end my #tututuesday journey on a high note, I indulged in a delicious beignet at Cafe du Monde, a New Orleans classic. I savored each bite, watching the people around me—artists, musicians, and locals alike—making memories against the backdrop of the city’s charm. It’s that kind of place.

So there you have it—my #tututuesday escapade in New Orleans. What I learned is that this place is not just a city with an unforgettable soul—it’s a stage where every day feels like an opportunity to express your individuality and your love for life. I've definitely got to add this destination to my permanent tutu tour schedule!

Till next time, happy twirling and let's make some magic together, ballet lovers!

Xo,
Dancing with D.
