Tutu Tuesday in St. Charles, Missouri #tututuesday

Hey everyone! It’s your girl, Blair, back with another installment of Tutu Tuesday! This week I’m bringing the tutus to St. Charles, Missouri. Yes, you read that right! Ballet is alive and well in the heartland, and I’m here to prove it.

I was lucky enough to catch a performance by the St. Charles Ballet Company, and let me tell you, they were phenomenal! They brought so much passion, energy, and artistry to the stage. It was truly a feast for the eyes.

Of course, no ballet performance would be complete without a spectacular display of tutus. The dancers were adorned in all kinds of gorgeous styles, from classic romantic tutus to modern contemporary creations. The variety of styles really added a special element to each performance. It was a true celebration of all things ballet!

For my own #tututuesday celebration, I decided to try out a vintage-inspired, pale pink tutu. The tulle was light and fluffy, and the pink was the perfect shade for a springtime performance. It reminded me of the ballerinas from classic fairy tales. Plus, it had just enough sparkles to make it a little bit special!

St. Charles was just buzzing with excitement around the ballet, and it was such a joy to see the community coming together to support the arts. It just goes to show that ballet is more than just a dance – it’s a powerful expression of beauty, passion, and art. And that’s what makes #tututuesday so special! It’s a day to celebrate everything that’s great about ballet.

Here are some of my favorite tutu styles that I saw in the show:

  • **Romantic tutus:** The romantic tutu is a classic for a reason! This style of tutu is often made with multiple layers of tulle and has a long, flowing skirt. The romantic tutu is perfect for portraying classic fairy tale characters, or simply conveying a sense of grace and beauty. The dancers looked simply exquisite as they glided across the stage, the layers of their tutus billowing behind them.
  • **Contemporary tutus:** Modern ballerinas love contemporary tutus, which tend to be more fitted and often feature asymmetric shapes. The contemporary tutus worn by the dancers highlighted their movements and flexibility with elegant and dramatic designs. One of my favorite contemporary looks featured a sleek black tutu with jagged edges. It was modern and edgy yet incredibly elegant!
  • **Costume tutus:** While not traditional tutus, they still deserved a mention! Some of the dancers were clad in gorgeous costumes that included variations of the tutu form, like the classic layered tutu style. One beautiful piece was a multi-layered purple, sequined, fitted skirt worn for a mystical character. I even saw a short, poofy costume tutu with swirling pink tulle that made me feel like I was right inside a storybook!

From classic to modern, it’s no wonder the tutu is such a beloved element of the ballet world! Whether it’s a dreamy romantic tutu or a dramatic contemporary design, every single tutu is a symbol of the artistry and beauty that dance can convey.

And that’s a wrap on Tutu Tuesday! I hope you’re feeling inspired to celebrate ballet in all its glory. And don’t forget to follow me on Instagram and TikTok! I’m always looking for new and exciting ways to showcase my love for dance.

Stay stylish, everyone!
