You know, sometimes we forget that the American heartland isn’t just about cornfields and football games. We have a thriving ballet scene too, and Lincoln is no exception! This city holds a special place in my heart for its dedication to dance. It's where I started taking classes when I was just a little girl. My first memory was getting fitted for a tiny little pink tutu that spun so freely. It was like magic. And Lincoln keeps the magic alive. There are ballet studios around every corner and a ballet company that puts on spectacular performances. But let’s be real, Lincoln has a lot more to offer than just ballerinas in tutus. The city has some of the best craft breweries in the state, incredible farmers’ markets with delicious local honey and produce, and a truly friendly and down-to-earth vibe.
Anyway, I digress. Back to tutus! You wouldn't believe how excited I was to be reunited with some fellow tutu fanatics at the Lincoln City Ballet's fundraiser gala. It was a tutu paradise, everyone embraced the occasion. We saw a **mix of classic romantic tutu styles with airy, floaty skirts. The tulle looked like clouds** in the spotlight. Then, there were **fierce contemporary pieces, short tutus in deep burgundy and sapphire, with the dancers strutting in thigh-high boots**. My personal fave was this **sparkling gold tutu with layers and layers of netting**, totally dripping in sequins and bringing the house down in a fiery contemporary number.
Of course, **Lincoln doesn’t have a massive Broadway scene**, but their performance halls, museums, and galleries definitely rock a tutu or two during events. I mean, I think a good tutu always adds a touch of drama, right? And that’s the beauty of this whole #tututuesday movement: finding ways to embrace ballet fashion in everyday life, beyond the stage. And I think we can all agree that’s pretty magical.
