Tutu Tuesday in Deal: A Whirlwind of Tutus and Tea

Oh, Deal! You know I love you, and you know I love a good tutu, so when I saw #Tutuesday trending with all the local dancers and shops getting involved, I knew I had to get myself down there for a day of tutus and tea.

As a ballet dancer and blogger, I live for moments like these – the chance to indulge in my passion for all things ballet, share that passion with the community, and discover a new wave of #tututuesday inspiration.

The sun was shining and the air was crisp as I rolled into Deal, already feeling the buzz of excitement. My trusty camera bag was packed with my trusty camera, and of course, my #Tutuesday outfit – a flowing white maxi-skirt, a dainty crop top, and, you guessed it, a tutu!

This wasn’t just any tutu, darling! I’d chosen a delicate pastel pink number with a touch of sparkle – a perfect blend of elegant and whimsical. The flowing layers and soft tulle gave me the most twirl-worthy feeling. I wanted something that would blend seamlessly with the beachy charm of Deal, and that tutu hit the spot. And let me tell you, the local shopkeepers definitely seemed to approve!

From Shop to Shop, A Tutu Paradise

The first stop was the charming tea shop, "The Tea Pot", which was completely decorated in the #tututuesday theme. The smell of Earl Grey and honey filled the air as I walked in, and I knew I had found my first tea-time haven. Their menu offered the most adorable #Tutuesday treats: miniature Victoria sponges topped with a single edible ballerina doll, teacups rimmed with sprinkles, and even a teapot in the shape of a tutu! I couldn’t resist – a perfect pick-me-up for a busy day.

From there, I decided to venture into the heart of Deal’s charming high street. The quaint shops with their colourful window displays really gave me a sense of nostalgia and the magic of #Tutuesday was certainly radiating from the displays.

One store in particular, "The Dressmakers' Den", really stole my heart. This adorable independent shop housed a little collection of vintage tutus, some dating back decades, displayed in a beautiful antique wardrobe. I spent at least an hour simply browsing, taking pictures of these stunning, handcrafted beauties.

My eye was drawn to a classic, mid-century tutu in soft, flowing white. It was all hand-stitched, the layers falling gracefully to the floor. The design was both simple and elegant – a perfect example of the timeless appeal of ballet and of tutus.

Across the street, I discovered a hidden gem called “The Creative Collective". The owner, a talented seamstress herself, was creating custom tutus right there in her little studio. She was so incredibly enthusiastic about #Tututuesday and her excitement was contagious. I found myself talking to her about different styles, different eras of tutu design, and the joy of making tutus for dancers young and old.

It was fascinating to hear about the craft behind each design, from the selection of fabrics to the meticulous attention to detail that goes into the layering of the tulle. It reminded me why the ballet world is so much more than just pirouettes and leaps.

Tutu Time, and All the Trimmings

By the time I got back to the tea shop, the place was buzzing with life! All of the tables were full and even more guests were spilling into the street, twirling their tutus, enjoying their afternoon tea and taking pictures for social media.

The atmosphere was simply electric, with a mixture of pure joy, laughter, and appreciation for everything ballet. I knew this is the kind of special moment that makes the hashtag #Tutuesday a real celebration, not just in Deal, but all across the world!

Spotting the #Tututuesday Stars

I felt an urge to show off my own #Tutuesday style so I started my own twirling adventure on the beach front.

There were so many stylish tutus to admire; it’s amazing what the modern tutu has evolved into. I saw classic white tutus, perfect for a graceful Swan Lake routine, along with romantic floral tutus with cascading layers for the most beautiful and feminine twirls.

The bold, bright tutus brought such a spark of sunshine to the beach with the vivid colours, perfectly in keeping with Deal’s vibrant and colourful vibe.

One particular outfit stopped me in my tracks – a majestic red tutu paired with a white, long-sleeved blouse and sleek black leggings. This tutu stood out for its unusual shape, it was quite voluminous. The dancer twirling in it was incredibly elegant and her red tutu almost took centre stage in the way it billowed behind her. It really highlighted how the classic tutu can be a starting point, ready for an endless exploration of styles. You can find any kind of tutu now – just the one that reflects your personal style and dance personality!

The day flew by in a flurry of tutus, tea, and laughter, and as the sun began its descent, I realised that #Tutuesday was not just a day; it was an experience.

The vibrant energy, the playful spirit, the sheer joy of expressing oneself through ballet - all of this came together in a magical, whirlwind of #tututuesday spirit.

So, dear readers, I implore you, grab your favourite tutu, get your tea on, and make every day a #tututuesday – embrace your inner ballerina, be bold, be playful, be beautiful.

And Deal? You have officially cemented your place in my heart as a must-visit destination for any tutu lover!

I’ll be back soon, my darling Deal!
