Tutu Tuesday in Orange, California: #tututuesday

Hey there, fellow ballet lovers! It's your girl, Ashley, back with another edition of my Tutu Tuesday blog. Today, we're diving into the vibrant dance scene right here in my hometown of Orange, California. I gotta say, this city knows how to make a tutu pop!

We all know that the tutu is a ballet icon – a symbol of grace, artistry, and of course, those delicate, airy swirls. And what's more exciting than flaunting your favorite tutu every Tuesday? That's right, the #tututuesday movement is strong in Orange, with ballet schools, dance studios, and even some regular folks embracing this fun tradition. It's all about spreading the love for ballet and rocking a little tulle.

One of my favorite tutu-inspired moments in Orange this week was at the *Dance Expressions* studio. They had a special #tututuesday workshop, and let me tell you, the energy was electrifying! We got to explore different tutu styles:

  • The classic romantic tutu, with layers of tulle and that whimsical, ethereal feel.
  • The playful, layered "tutu-skirt" that’s perfect for warming up. You know, those with the shorter layers and the ones with an awesome amount of movement.
  • And my personal fave: the sleek and modern “tutu dress" — a combo of a skirt with a top (sometimes a leotard), which is fantastic for creating sharp and dramatic lines on stage.

I mean, just watching dancers twirling and pirouetteing in these tutus – pure magic, I tell ya. It’s a true celebration of dance, and let’s be honest, it lifts our spirits. There was this incredible 10-year-old girl in a sunshine-yellow romantic tutu—she was spinning like a dancer straight out of *The Nutcracker*, and it just brought a huge smile to my face.

I also love seeing the everyday #tututuesday vibe around Orange. Some people love sporting their tutus for a casual lunch or a day of errands – there’s a local coffee shop called *Espresso Yourself* that’s totally embracing the #tututuesday trend. The owner, Emily, is actually a former ballet dancer, and she makes the most delicious lattes while rocking her tulle with a touch of coffee shop chic. Seriously, it’s the best! And it shows that dance is for everyone, even when it’s just for fun and a pick-me-up.

This city’s not afraid to be unique. Orange, California, is home to a passionate community that really embraces the ballet artform. From those seriously hardcore ballet studios, with classes in every style (classical ballet, modern dance, you name it) to smaller dance schools, with just a handful of students, it's all about the love for ballet. And this makes for such a lively #tututuesday scene — there's a tutu for every dancer.

We’re not just about the beauty of movement either — it’s also about the heart and soul behind ballet, the emotions. And I’m really feeling this energy! I mean, how could you not with all the fun we’ve had! I've seen some amazing choreographies from young dancers (inspired by classic works like *Swan Lake* to *Sleeping Beauty*), and even witnessed a little boy with a sparkle in his eye during a recital. That sparkle says, ‘I am ready to go on this artistic journey.’ And it truly brought me back to my first moments as a dancer, which is all about letting those artistic dreams come true.

Now, for those of you in Orange, get out there and spread the #tututuesday cheer! If you’re feeling a little extra inspired, don’t hesitate to strike a pose with a little tulle. Embrace your inner ballerina, flaunt those tutus, and let the magic flow. I’ll see you in class!
