Tutu Tuesday in Bicester: A Whirlwind of Tulle and Trendsetting

Tutu Tuesday, oh Tutu Tuesday, how I love thee! For those of you who don't know, every Tuesday, my social media feeds are flooded with breathtaking pictures of ballerinas in their tutus. It's a beautiful ballet-inspired celebration of dance, fashion, and pure joy, and this week, I was lucky enough to join the fun right here in Bicester.

So, picture this: Bicester, the town with its quaint streets and bustling market square, was suddenly awash with tutus. It was magical! I’d been thinking about Tutu Tuesday for weeks and had picked out the perfect tulle masterpiece for the occasion – a blush-pink, double-layered, Romantic Tutu with delicate embroidery. I mean, how could you not feel glamorous in a garment so exquisitely crafted?

My day began with a flurry of excitement as I prepped for the #tututuesday photoshoot. The weather was gloriously sunny, casting a soft, golden light over Bicester. As I danced in front of the picturesque Bicester Town Hall, the sunshine created a spotlight effect on my shimmering tulle, making it seem to dance along with me.

It was like a fairytale come to life! The town centre, usually filled with shoppers and the familiar hum of daily life, felt transformed. Even the pigeons seemed to be on the sidelines, mesmerized by the twirling ballerinas. I saw fellow Tutu Tuesday enthusiasts everywhere – mums pushing prams sporting tutus, office workers taking a break from their busy schedules to capture a picture, even a little girl in her first ballet class twirling with her Mum, a massive smile on her face.

From the traditional Romantic tutus to the shorter, more contemporary ‘pencil tutus’ to the ever-popular multi-layered, frilly tutus (all, of course, perfect for catching the sunlight and making for truly dramatic photos), Bicester was embracing the tutu phenomenon in a big way.

As I glided through the streets of Bicester, my trusty tutu trailed behind me, I couldn’t help but notice how the town was reacting to my twirling. A wave of smiles, compliments, and the odd gasp of awe, I’ve got to admit, are a pretty great pick-me-up on any day!

And while some might be sceptical, it’s hard to deny the power of a tutu! It’s a statement piece. It makes you feel confident and ready to take on the world. For those of you reading this, and who may think a tutu is not for you, I encourage you to reconsider – find one in a style that suits your personality. Be bold, be fabulous, and be a little bit ‘tutu crazy’ this Tuesday! You never know, maybe even your town will embrace the trend and become a Tutu Tuesday haven.

Bicester truly did embrace #tututuesday with open arms and even the local cafe owner, who had noticed the day’s tutu theme, offered us complimentary hot drinks – we all felt like ballerinas having a day at the ballet!

Highlights of my Bicester #tututuesday:

  • Twirling with other ballet enthusiasts on the town square, and capturing the joy of dance on camera
  • Posing for pictures with a cheeky dog, all dressed up in a tutu, its tail wagging, its eyes shining
  • Making new friends and discovering how even the most introverted person could break free with a twirl of their tutu
  • Seeing Bicester with new eyes, all thanks to a danceable splash of tulle and an extra bit of twirl magic

As my Tutu Tuesday adventures in Bicester came to a close, I felt a sense of exhilaration and satisfaction. The joy of dance, the love of tutus, and the community spirit of Bicester had made for an unforgettable experience.

If you ever have a chance to participate in #tututuesday, I highly recommend it! It’s a perfect way to step outside of your comfort zone, celebrate the power of dance, and create beautiful memories that will last a lifetime. It's a day that proves there’s a ballerina in us all, even if our tutus aren't quite ready for a stage performance.

From Bicester, with love,
