You guys know how much I love tutus, right? They’re like my dance uniform! I’m always looking for ways to express myself with different styles, from the classic romantic tutus with tiers of delicate tulle to the sleek and modern contemporary styles. They all hold a special place in my heart because each one represents a unique story. And San Antonio, well, it just happens to be a city that oozes stories—it's full of culture, history, and life!
We all know that ballet has taken a leap forward in the USA in recent years. We’re seeing more contemporary and innovative choreographers push the boundaries of traditional ballet, incorporating new techniques and ideas. And, as a dancer, I love being part of this exciting evolution. I also love bringing ballet out of the traditional studio settings and onto the streets! So, for **#TutuTuesday**, I thought, “Why not bring some of that contemporary style to San Antonio?"
So, for my **#TutuTuesday** adventures in San Antonio, I opted for a playful and modern tutu. You know, the kind with just enough tulle to give it that signature “whimsical” touch, but it doesn’t overwhelm the rest of my outfit. I paired it with a simple white tank top for a little contrast, a sleek pair of black leggings (because sometimes a dancer's gotta prioritize comfort, am I right?), and of course, my trusty pair of dance shoes—because a girl's got to stay ready!
First, we hit the San Antonio River Walk! Oh, my gosh, it was absolutely stunning. We had to get a few snaps by the colorful buildings and the water—it just added a touch of elegance to the whole outfit. Seriously, guys, a tutu is like the ultimate fashion statement anywhere! You can easily style it with literally anything, which is what I love most about it. It makes me feel bold and beautiful, no matter where I go.
Speaking of bold and beautiful, did you know that San Antonio's got some pretty epic architecture? I felt like I stepped into a Renaissance painting with all the historic churches and buildings. I decided to take advantage of the photo opportunities—the historic buildings definitely added a timeless charm to my outfit. I even threw in a few poses, à la ballet class, because why not? Let's just say the architecture provided the perfect backdrop for a ballet photoshoot.
As the sun started to set, we wandered through the heart of downtown. Let's just say that San Antonio nightlife doesn’t disappoint. We grabbed some tacos from a food truck (because a girl’s gotta eat, especially after a day of twirling!) and then decided to head to the historic Alamo! I mean, we had to pay a visit to one of the city’s most famous landmarks. Even though the Alamo is known for its serious history, I thought the location actually gave my look a touch of rebelliousness. It felt like I was taking something traditionally classic and putting a twist on it.
After all that sightseeing, my feet were begging for a break, but my love for this tutu-fied day wasn’t over. So we strolled over to the beautiful Pearl District—I definitely got some cool Instagram photos there. This place is a bit more artsy and has some really unique murals! I thought that a bold graphic tutu with bold colored graphic stripes or even some black sequins could look amazing against the artwork.
From there, we made our way to the San Antonio Botanical Garden. I had heard good things about this place, and I'm so glad we went. The whole atmosphere was like something out of a fairytale, perfect for my tutu! The different textures, colors, and flowers inspired me—they're all elements I use in my dancing. And honestly, they’re also the same things that make fashion so beautiful and expressive.
San Antonio really delivered on the **#TutuTuesday** vibe! From the River Walk’s charming elegance to the historical sights, from the delicious food to the fun atmosphere of downtown, it was truly an unforgettable experience. This city is filled with so much beauty, life, and energy, just like a good tutu, it allows you to express yourself freely!
