Tutu Tuesday in West Allis, Wisconsin! #tututuesday

Hey everyone, it's your girl, Ashley, back with another Tutu Tuesday! Today we're stepping out of the studio and into the streets of West Allis, Wisconsin. Yeah, you heard that right. Wisconsin might not be known for its ballet scene, but trust me, there's a budding passion for the art here! It might not be NYC, but trust me, the love of dance runs strong and this Midwestern town knows how to bring the magic!

Now, before we get to the outfits, let's talk about my outfit. I'm wearing a classic, romantic, full-length tulle tutu in blush pink. This one is custom made by my friend Emily who actually started making her own tutus for her own performances and quickly gained a local following! You can find her at [Insert Shop Name] in downtown West Allis - she even sells adorable matching outfits for little girls. She made a cute matching outfit for my little cousin Lily and I gotta say it was a major hit. Emily knows how to give that classic ballerina look a modern touch and it’s become a staple in my wardrobe. But more about that in a future post!

Now let's get down to business:

My West Allis #tututuesday Look

  • To amp up the classic look, I paired my tutu with a cropped black cashmere sweater - we need something warm here in Wisconsin - and sleek black platform boots with gold hardware. My jewelry is minimal – a delicate gold necklace and a simple gold watch. It all ties into the timeless elegance of the tutu and gives me a modern, Parisian feel.
  • This look can be worn to coffee with the girls, a daytime gallery hop, or a pre-theatre dinner before a night at the Milwaukee Ballet! And trust me, I plan on rocking it in the upcoming weeks – there's nothing more inspiring than taking the ballet offstage and into everyday life! It’s a fun way to be bold and express your own individuality, especially for those of us who may have traded the pointe shoes for stilettos for a day!
  • I was actually approached at a vintage shop, called [Vintage shop Name], by a woman who was starting her own line of tutus. It was the coolest encounter - We were both so excited to talk tutus and shop the vintage treasures! She’s aiming to take that retro 60s look and bring it back into modern dance style – really a cool trend. Her goal is to show the power of fashion and to show that, with the right attitude and outfit, you can dance through anything. This just goes to show that #tututuesday is not just about fashion. It’s about self-expression, about reminding everyone that there’s a ballerina in each of us - even if it’s just for a Tuesday!
