Hey everyone! It's your girl, Chloe here, back with another Tutu Tuesday! Today, I'm taking you to Oak Lawn, Illinois, a beautiful suburb of Chicago, where the ballet scene is alive and well.
Okay, let's talk tutu styles, because I know you're dying to know what's hot and what's not. Today, I'm feeling a little "Romantic," and that's exactly the style we're rocking! Think long, flowing layers of tulle, often embellished with intricate details. I just love the romantic vibes. These tutus are perfect for classical ballets like Giselle and Swan Lake. If you’re in the mood for a dramatic, ethereal look, you can’t go wrong with a Romantic-style tutu.
But if you're looking for something a little more modern and sleek, check out a "Neoclassical" tutu. This is a popular option among contemporary ballets. It’s known for its minimalist aesthetic.
You know what else is great? Let's talk about all the fabulous outfits I’ve spotted on Tutu Tuesday! Everyone in Oak Lawn is rocking their tutus! One lady, wearing a beautiful powder blue Romantic tutu paired with a sleek black top, looked like a real ballerina! And another dancer stood out with a modern, almost-too-short "Tutu for Modern Dance" outfit that included an open back, showcasing their elegant, strong figure. And it looked SO good. I want to copy her whole look!
We just saw a fabulous ballet company called "Oak Lawn Ballet Theatre." Their performance of Giselle was amazing! The dancers were absolutely incredible - their movements, their expressions - all perfectly capturing the beauty and emotion of the story. It was so captivating. Their costumes were also very elaborate, with an abundance of intricate embroidery and rhinestones that glimmered in the stage lights.
Here are just a few reasons why I think it’s important to support local ballet companies.
