Tutu Tuesday in Denver, Colorado! #tututuesday Hey dance fam! It's your girl, Lily, back with another Tutu Tuesday post. And guess what? Today, we're stepping out of the studio and into the streets of Denver, Colorado! I mean, who needs the Royal Opera House when you've got the Rocky Mountains, right? But first, a quick fashion confession: I am totally obsessed with tutus! The poofy skirts, the delicate layers, the pure elegance - it's enough to make a girl go giddy. And there's just something so liberating about swirling around in one, even if it's just on your own in the dressing room! But tutus aren't just for performances anymore. The style world has totally embraced the tutu as a major fashion trend. Seriously, think beyond the traditional ballet tutu with its layers upon layers of tulle. There are so many awesome variations that you can rock just about anywhere. Let’s talk trends. * Think **short tutus** paired with a graphic tee or a chunky knit sweater for a cool, street style vibe. * **Midi tutus** look amazing with a flowy blouse and ankle boots - the perfect outfit for brunch with your girls. * If you want a look that's all about glamour, a **long tutu** with a silky top and statement jewelry is the way to go. It's basically red carpet worthy. My Tutu Tuesday in Denver. Denver, oh Denver! It’s not just about the mountains, the art, and the coffee shops, it’s also becoming a true dance haven. Denver has so much ballet history and tons of talented dancers. This town has the passion! And you know what? There's nothing like spinning around in a tutu with the Denver skyline as your backdrop. So for my Tutu Tuesday in Denver, I wanted a look that felt fun, flirty, and a bit rebellious. I chose a bright pink midi tutu. I don't want to sound too basic but it was totally perfect for dancing in the streets and getting the city lights to shine back at me. I paired it with a black leather jacket for a bit of edge and black booties to make it feel less ballerina, more rockstar. Plus, with the crisp Denver air, the leather and the ankle boots were just perfect! Ballet is Everywhere. #tututuesday Denver might not be the "city of angels," but for us ballerinas, it's our city of inspiration. Denver has amazing studios, programs and of course, professional companies. I mean, seriously, if you're a dance lover and find yourself in Denver, you need to check out the Denver Ballet, the Colorado Ballet, or even some of the smaller companies like the one my best friend dances for, "InMotion" (you should see them perform – wow!)! The ballet world here in Denver is incredibly strong and supportive, and everyone knows the magic of the tutuy. I truly believe that ballet, with its elegance, artistry and discipline, has the power to change the world! The passion and determination I see every day at the ballet studio, the incredible costumes we get to wear... it makes the experience of ballet truly magical! And yes, every dancer knows what I mean. Keep it fun, keep it fashionable, and most importantly, keep your #tututuesday spirit high. Until next time, Lily
