Tutu Tuesday in Brookfield, Wisconsin #tututuesday
Hey dance fam! It's Tutu Tuesday and I'm here to celebrate the iconic garment that makes us feel like ballerinas even if we're just stepping out to grab a coffee.
From classic Romantic tutus with layers of tulle to the contemporary, shorter styles and the elegant Pointe tutus – oh, the tulle is dreamy! Today, we’re highlighting the evolution of the tutu – a dance fashion staple.
Let’s rewind!
* Early days of the Tutu. It’s the 19th century and Marie Taglioni, an absolute star, was dancing in her **"La Sylphide"**, the role made famous by her iconic airy costume! That’s when it started. The **"Romantic tutu"** became a revolutionary choice.
* Tutu's Evolution and Style Variations. The tutus went through changes through the years and each type has its story. Think of tutus in the works of ballet choreographers like **Michel Fokine**. He was big on the **"Empire waist tutu"**, more form fitting with a little bit more detail on the bottom. Let's give a shout-out to the **"Classical Tutu"**, that glorious confection that brought ballet into the limelight.
* The Contemporary Look. With contemporary dance taking off, the **"Modern Tutu"** followed! Think a shorter, fuller look. No big pouffy hoop skirts, but sleek designs. That’s the look we’re seeing in modern ballet and the **"Pointe Tutu"**, one of my absolute faves! You’ll see them when those graceful ballet dancers are working on pointe shoes! A true work of art.
* Tutu Beyond the Stage. The Tutu. A little magical, don’t you think? Now we’re seeing the **“Everyday Tutu,”** an iconic fashion choice that works! Think dresses with layered skirts, tulle for fashion details and other tutus-inspired designs.
**Today’s Style Inspiration **
I love pairing a tulle skirt, with a classic black turtleneck! It’s so classic. Then I add a a touch of glitz with some silver jewelry!
