Droitwich: Tutu Tuesday #tututuesday

Okay, darlings, let's get this Tutu Tuesday off to a fabulous start! It's time to step out of those comfy sweatpants and embrace the joy of dance and fashion. Droitwich, you may not be known for your Parisian chic, but you are, however, absolutely blooming with hidden style gems! Who knew?

As you all know, I'm all about finding inspiration in the unexpected. Today, I'm tackling the age-old question - can we make balletwear chic outside of the studio? Of course we can! It's all about embracing those playful, elegant vibes and rocking a look that speaks of movement and grace, even when we're not pirouetteing through the streets. (Though, a well-timed pirouette is never out of the question... just sayin')

For starters, my fellow ballet bunnies, it’s time to break the mould of the traditional, romantic tutus. Think about a new kind of statement. Those dreamy, fluffy, multi-layered tutus? Darling, they’re best kept for the stage (or maybe your bedroom, if you fancy feeling extra glamorous in the morning!) What we're going for today is a touch more street-style chic, but with that unmistakable, twirling magic.

Think structured silhouettes, bold colours, and a sprinkle of contemporary flair. For today's exploration, let’s consider:

  • The Bodycon Tutu - Think of those fitted leotard-style tutus with a hint of sparkle or a touch of velvet. Imagine it with chunky, heeled boots and a bomber jacket. Talk about a killer contrast!
  • The Mini Tutu – No need to go overboard! A shorter version of a traditional tutu – you’ve probably already seen these - styled with a cute pair of tights and an oversized sweater makes a chic, but fun outfit, perfect for brunch with your besties!
  • The Asymmetrical Tutu – For you rebels! Asymmetrical tutus in fun, vibrant colors can bring life to any basic look. Consider styling with a bright pair of trainers or some platform boots.

Droitwich has so much potential! I can see us wearing this tutu-inspired street style from the adorable little cafes that line the High Street to the beautiful canal-side walks, creating an elegant statement no matter the weather.

I must confess, my Tutu Tuesday exploration didn’t quite involve leaping across Droitwich’s streets. No, instead, I opted for a slow stroll through its charming independent boutiques. My mission was clear - finding unique tutus (and perhaps some other ballet-inspired treasures) to fuel your sartorial adventures.

I’m not talking those "Tut tut" tutus you might find in the average costume shop – no, darling, these were a different story altogether! Here's what I found, from independent, bespoke boutiques in Droitwich, to online stores I stumbled across…

  • The Hand-Stitched Statement Piece – A boutique I came across had the most incredible hand-stitched tutus made with exquisite details and delicate fabrics. A real investment piece, but you could totally pair it with a vintage blazer and look oh-so sophisticated for that fancy event, right? I am completely obsessed!
  • The Recycled Runway Tutu – I found a fabulous online store (thank you Instagram!) dedicated to repurposing discarded runway fabrics to create amazing, eco-friendly tutus! Talk about a responsible and stylish option.
  • The Tutu Dress - Oh yes, my fellow trendsetters, these are seriously making waves! There's a brand that's making those elegant, tiered dresses with a clear tutu vibe. If you haven't seen these yet, darling, prepare to be amazed! These beauties would be so stunning with some elegant stilettos for a fancy night out, or just dress it down with a casual blazer and sneakers, I'm not sure how but it looks just as chic with those trusty Doc Martens as well.

Now, I’m not suggesting that we wear tutus every day, but just by adding a sprinkle of that "Tutu Tuesday" magic into our wardrobes, we’ll be embodying elegance, joy, and of course, a touch of that inimitable, ballet-inspired flair.

So, come on Droitwich, let’s turn heads and show them what a tutu-licious town you truly are! #tututuesday
