Kokomo, Indiana: Tutu Tuesday Takes Over!
Hey there, fashion-forward dancers and tutu enthusiasts! It’s your girl, Blair, bringing you all the hottest trends straight from the heart of Indiana. And today? We're talking tutus, and I'm not just talking about the classic, romantic, poetic tutu, the ones we see in every ballet performance in America! (We all know about the legendary ones from the Boston Ballet to the San Francisco Ballet to New York City Ballet.) No, today we're taking #Tututuesday to a whole new level, bringing the flair to Kokomo, Indiana!
For those of you new to this whole #Tututuesday movement, it's all about celebrating the magic of the tutu. It’s about making a statement – and a fabulous one, at that! Now, I’m seeing tutu inspiration everywhere, from the latest fashion runway to Instagram feeds to TikTok. The iconic garment, with its timeless design and graceful drape, has moved beyond the dance studio and become a symbol of female empowerment and individuality.
So how did this small town, Kokomo, Indiana, become a hot spot for Tutu Tuesdays? I’ll tell you!
- We’ve got a newly opened ballet boutique, The Tutu Shop, right in downtown, and it’s bringing in a lot of the chic new styles we’re seeing in fashion these days. So we’re seeing a lot of fun and colorful tutus – bright pink tutus, electric blue tutus.
- There are tutus in every shade of the rainbow! You’ve got your classic pink, and your soft peach, and of course, the iconic black. But the girls in Kokomo are all about adding personality and sass. They're wearing long tutus in neon orange, glitter-covered tutus, short tutus in emerald green.
- My absolute favorites have been the modern styles. Imagine tulle and mesh panels in black and red, super dramatic. The tutu is turning into a really cool, super edgy piece in these looks. And the coolest part? It can work for everything - dancing class, a girls' night out, or even just for a day out in Kokomo!
From my observation, in Kokomo, the classic style seems to be getting a whole new vibe. We're adding streetwear elements to the tutu. Think leather jackets and sneakers with a romantic tutu for that ultra cool-girl chic. And speaking of chic, my favorite look so far? The ballet flat + tutu. It's just perfect!
It's crazy how a little town like Kokomo, Indiana, is creating its own spin on the #Tututuesday trend. So to all of my Tutu Tuesday sisters out there, we’re not afraid to add some Indiana flair! We're making the tutu more inclusive, fun, and inspiring. The classic ballet style in Kokomo still lives on, but you can also embrace the freedom of wearing whatever kind of tutu makes your heart skip a beat. Remember to be true to yourself and rock that Tutu Tuesday confidence, ladies! Because you're beautiful, fierce, and unique!
