Tutu Tuesday in Kalamazoo, Michigan: A Tutu-tastic Time! #tututuesday Okay, so let's talk about #TutuTuesday! For those of you who haven't been following my blog, every Tuesday, I pick a different tutu to wear, document my outfit and share it with you lovely people. And today, my #TutuTuesday takes me all the way to Kalamazoo, Michigan! Now, I know what you're thinking: Kalamazoo, Michigan? Really? You bet your pointe shoes! Kalamazoo is actually home to a vibrant arts scene, and trust me, when it comes to ballet in the USA, Kalamazoo is not to be overlooked! First off, let me talk about the tutu! For this #TutuTuesday adventure, I opted for a stunning **romantic tutu**. You know the type: layers of delicate tulle, cascading gracefully, perfect for any grand ballet scene. A true classic, and let's face it, it's super versatile! And speaking of classics, let's not forget the **"classical tutu,"** a staple in the world of ballet. It's a true icon - with a single layer of tulle, it's sleek, structured and undeniably graceful! Perfect for showcasing intricate footwork and elegant extensions. I'll have to save the **"layered tutu"** for my next ballet performance; its tiered design adds an ethereal and dramatic dimension! You simply can't go wrong with the traditional **"pou de chat"** design, It features layers of tulle radiating from the waist, just waiting for that "pas de deux." The **"petit tutu"** would make for the most darling #TutuTuesday look. It's super-short and airy. For my #TutuTuesday outfit, I wanted a look that was chic but casual, something you could wear to a coffee shop, to a ballet class or to explore a new city - like Kalamazoo, Michigan! Here's what I went with: * **My Romantic Tutu:** As I mentioned before, layers and layers of ethereal tulle! It's always the perfect mix of drama and whimsy. * **A Simple White Tank Top:** It’s super-comfy and allows the tutu to be the main attraction! * **A Black Denim Jacket:** To add a bit of “edge” and a pop of contrast to the overall look. * **Black Ballet Flats:** You know the drill! Chic and stylish! And you never have to worry about blisters! I knew I had to hit up the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts while I was in town. This stunning art museum features a mix of modern and historical pieces, from contemporary sculpture to American paintings, from traditional sculptures to avant-garde installations! And, bonus - I found a hidden gem - the "Dancing with the Arts" exhibition. The exhibit was a visual treat, celebrating the art of dance, with everything from historical ballet costumes to photos capturing the raw emotions and physical prowess of ballet dancers! I knew I had to snap a photo with the classic tutus on display! After the Institute of Arts, I walked a couple of blocks over to the Kalamazoo Mall, Kalamazoo’s historic shopping district. With its cobbled walkways, beautifully designed Victorian storefronts and a super fun collection of eclectic shops, boutiques and art galleries, the Mall is one of the most picturesque outdoor shopping areas I have ever seen! Imagine my joy when I came across an independent ballet studio called "En Pointe" . Turns out, they offer ballet classes in Kalamazoo, Michigan - what a delightful surprise! You just never know where you will discover a little piece of ballet magic. I'm sure you're probably tired of reading about Kalamazoo. Well, let's talk about **tutus for a bit**, because seriously, you need to check out the various types! The **"classical tutu,"** I must admit, is my absolute favorite - It’s timeless elegance and exquisite design are truly stunning, especially when paired with the perfect pointe shoes. For my **next #TutuTuesday adventure** maybe I’ll experiment with the **"layered tutu"**. There's just something so whimsical and ethereal about multiple layers of tulle! So what have I learned? Well, #TutuTuesday is about more than just rocking a fabulous tutu (though, let’s be honest, that’s definitely a part of it). It’s about embracing our passion for dance and spreading it to everyone and every place. Whether it’s on the streets of Kalamazoo, in a coffee shop in New York, or on a bustling market square in Paris, **ballet has the power to move, inspire and unite**! And don’t forget about #TutuTuesday #Kalamazoo #Michigan! #ballet #dance #usa
