Tutu Tuesday in Ogden, Utah: A Tutu-tastic Time!
#tututuesday
Hey everyone, itās your girl, Amelia, back with another *Tutu Tuesday* post! Iām absolutely ecstatic to share all the amazing things happening in the world of dance in Ogden, Utah, today. Now, for those of you new to the scene, *Tutu Tuesday* is my weekly exploration of all things ballet ā from the latest tutu trends to the incredible dancers who inspire us. Letās dive into it, shall we?
Ogden has this awesome energy around dance right now. You wouldnāt think a city in Utah would have such a strong ballet scene, but Iām here to tell you, itās real. The Ogden Ballet is amazing! They recently had their annual Spring Gala and it was a true display of ballet excellence. There was everything from graceful pas de deux to powerhouse contemporary numbers. Itās a local gem you canāt miss. I spotted some pretty impressive tutu designs that night:
* A dreamy, full-length tutu with layers of tulle, looking like a beautiful ballerina cloud. It was in a romantic piece, and the dancer looked like she was floating!
* A classic, fitted tutu with a beautiful scalloped edge, perfect for showing off those elegant ballet moves. I love that classic ballerina look!
* And then there was this modern number with a striking asymmetrical tutu that literally stopped the show. The lines of the dance, with that single side of tulle flowing as she moved ā stunning.
It wasn't just the main performance that got my heart racing. During the gala's intermission, I happened upon the āBallet and Brunchā table, offering the most gorgeous selection of custom tutus. They're doing private tutu classes now, letting people make their own. Talk about the perfect craft night! I snagged some gorgeous emerald green tulle that I'm dying to create something magical with! Maybe I'll even do a #tututuesday blog post on that!
Outside of the Ogden Ballet, the entire city has this amazing energy. Even local boutiques and vintage shops are embracing the ballet aesthetic. Yesterday I found this fabulous tutu-inspired skirt at an indie shop. Think swirling tulle, but made for everyday wear! I paired it with a plain tee and a denim jacket, and bam! I felt like I could leap over anything!
Now, let's talk about the big event of the week, the Utah Ballet's grand opening for their brand-new studio! Located right in the heart of Ogden, it's a beautiful space with high ceilings, gleaming wood floors, and massive windows. You just can't beat natural light when you're learning barre work. They even have this fantastic little ballet cafe serving organic smoothies and delicious gluten-free treats ā ideal for fueling up after a challenging class!
Oh, and did I mention the incredible range of classes? From beginning ballet to professional-level contemporary dance, there's something for everyone! It's an amazing opportunity for the community to come together and experience the joy of ballet, regardless of age or skill level. Itās just one more example of how Ogden has embraced this unique dance culture.
For me, Tutu Tuesday in Ogden is a testament to the joy of movement and the passion for dance. Itās about the community, the artistry, and the simple fact that we can all embrace a little bit of āballerina magicā in our lives, even if itās just trying a new spin class!
So, whatās my takeaway? Well, Ogden, Utah is a hidden ballet gem! So if youāre a fellow dancer, or if you've even got the slightest hint of dance fever, check out the Ogden Ballet, grab a friend, and try out a ballet class! You won't be disappointed. And as always, keep an eye out for more exciting Tutu Tuesdays!
Stay groovy,
Amelia
