Okay, tutu lovers, get ready for a major fashion fiesta! It's Tutu Tuesday in Novato, California, and let me tell you, the vibes are high and the tulle is even higher!
You see, I’ve been a ballet dancer ever since I could walk, so I know a thing or two about tutus! This love for the art and the dance carries over to a love of fashion. From the classic romantic tutu to the sleek, modern, contemporary styles, I have a tutu for every occasion. I've seen the most exquisite tutus – I've even worn some myself – at my favorite dance studio, the "Novato Ballet Conservatory" which is in Novato, California and trust me, these are some ballerinas who can twirl! So, you can only imagine my excitement for Tutu Tuesday, an event that’s practically a national holiday (it’s like my holiday anyway).
Every Tuesday in Novato is Tutu Tuesday and it started with one local business – a beautiful antique shop called, “Grandma’s Attic.” They held a contest called, "Who Wears the Tutu Best” which was a hoot! Well, let’s just say it quickly caught on. I think what everyone loves most about it is it's a reminder to celebrate yourself, and that everyone's beautiful, and we should all embrace who we are, even if that includes being a bit fabulous with tulle, feather boas, and all things glitter! #tututuesday

You’ll see teachers with their students, moms with their daughters, grandmothers and granddaughters and even dads and grandpas and they’re all embracing their inner ballerinas! There's a palpable sense of community, of everyone coming together to celebrate this amazing art form and all things feminine. And who can resist a little sparkle, right?
From a dance perspective, it’s about connecting with each other through ballet, celebrating the diversity of ballet, and of course, sharing our love for the beautiful dance!
The other beautiful thing about Tutu Tuesday is it's more than a single day in the town of Novato, it’s a community embracing fun and creative expression! Even the Mayor got in on the fun by dancing a little jig at City Hall on Tutu Tuesday!
