It's a day dedicated to celebrating the exquisite art of ballet and the fabulous fashion that goes with it! It’s become a thing for me - I started posting pics of my fave tutus on Tuesdays on Insta a year or two ago, and people love it. And, lemme tell ya, it's super inspiring to see so many tutu lovers out there! As a ballet dancer living and working here in the heart of the Gold Country, it feels so great to celebrate the art of ballet - not just onstage, but out in the real world. My home city of Folsom’s got such a diverse art scene, and seeing the ballet community blossom in a place that’s so focused on the outdoors, too, is just a wonderful thing to be part of. I feel like I’ve hit the tutu-lover’s jackpot! From Classical to Contemporary Let's talk tutus! We all have our faves, don't we? I'm digging romantic tutus this week – flowing tulle with intricate details, maybe a little peek-a-boo lace – like, what a graceful look! I just got this beautiful ivory one that fits like a glove - it’s so flattering, I practically feel like a ballerina swan! And it goes perfectly with this cool ballet cardigan I just picked up at a vintage store in town - my mom totally thought it was a bad idea, but I totally rock the retro look! Tutus come in all shapes and sizes – from the iconic, voluminous *tutu-de-jour*, to the shorter, flirtier styles, there's a tutu for everyone. * *Classic tutu* - You know, those romantic, tiered designs. The ultimate symbol of graceful movement - every layer adds to that floating, fairytale feeling. * *Romantic tutus* - Oh, the swooning drama! We're talkin’ gossamer fabrics, wispy layers, maybe some romantic embellishments… they create a totally ethereal, floating look. My bestie calls it “walking on clouds” and, well, she’s got a point. * *Contemporary tutus* - These babes can rock some seriously modern designs – asymmetrical cuts, graphic silhouettes. Think edgier fabric, bold lines… there's an element of playfulness that makes them so exciting. And lemme tell ya, no matter what style you prefer, a tutu just instantly adds that perfect touch of ballet magic to any look. It's the top ballet company in California, and I'm just so glad they’re only a hop skip and a jump from my hometown! Check their calendar - you’ll wanna grab tickets! And lemme tell you, those two aren’t the only options – the local dance studios in Folsom and surrounding areas host loads of awesome shows and workshops! So go find a class, put on your favorite tutu and go for it! There’s always an opportunity to let your inner ballerina shine! And when it comes to #tututuesday outfits, there's nothing I love more than exploring Folsom’s independent shops and finding a killer tutu outfit that really captures that “Tutu Tuesday Vibe!” So I decided to take you on a little shop hop! Folsom’s Tutu Tuesday Hotspots I love the *Thistle and Twig*. They’ve got all the right pieces: ethereal tops, skirts you could twirl in, and, of course, a few awesome tutus to top off your outfit! Their styling game is next level, too, so you can definitely find some inspiration. Plus, it's super charming and makes you feel like you stepped right into a movie scene. Next, *The Painted Bird*. I mean, come on, just the name of the place is dreamy. I totally get lost browsing the vintage dresses and chic, unique pieces. I actually found a vintage tutu here and let me tell you, I feel like a vintage dancer on the set of a Wes Anderson film. Folsom is home to so many amazing little boutiques and vintage shops, but I have to mention *The Little Gypsy*. Their curated finds are seriously curated - super unique and cool – definitely worth a visit. You can't go wrong finding some fun fashion treasures in Folsom, no matter what your style is.
