Tutu Tuesday in Corona, California: #tututuesday

Hey dancers and fashionistas! It's Tutu Tuesday, and you know what that means... time to rock a tutu! This week, I'm feeling inspired by the sunshine and the warm California breeze. There's something so liberating about a flowing, romantic tutu, don't you think? But let's be real, not all tutus are created equal. So, I've rounded up a few of my favorite styles to get your tutu-inspired wardrobe in tip-top shape!

First up, we have the classic Romantic tutu. Think **"La Sylphide"** vibes, with its ethereal layers of tulle and romantic, flowing silhouette. This style is perfect for ballet class or a graceful, feminine look for any occasion. It's also a great canvas for embellishments, like sequined flowers or delicate feathers.

Next, we have the fierce and dynamic "**Cabriole"** tutu! Imagine swirling, athletic, high-energy movement. The shorter, more sculpted tulle, often accented by colorful bands, adds an edgy, modern touch. You'll turn heads whether you're strutting down the street or soaring through a demanding **pas de bourrée** sequence.

And who could forget the grand "**Grand Jeté"** tutu? Think of all those amazing tutu shots of legendary ballerina like **Misty Copeland**, where those long layers seem to fly right off the stage! The longer, fuller tutu with a dramatic, flowing shape, always captures our imagination and demands respect from every member of the audience.

As an American dancer in my early twenties, I feel proud that American Ballet has become known for more contemporary styles of tutu design. For those dancers who lean towards that, my heart melts over those short **"Contemporary"** tutus - they give the dancers the flexibility of free movement, and are almost a blank slate, open for individual interpretation.

Remember, the beauty of a tutu lies in the confidence and spirit you wear it with. So, embrace the playful side of fashion and make it your own. Here are some creative ways to style your tutus:

  • Dress it down: Pair a romantic tutu with a simple tee and sneakers for a casual and edgy look. A pair of fashionable combat boots might surprise you!
  • Layer up: Throw a blazer or a denim jacket over your tutu for a chic and sophisticated ensemble. I recently discovered that **vegan leather** jacket can create such a chic contrast!
  • Go for the unexpected: Try pairing your tutu with a bright, bold, printed top or even a patterned scarf for a unique and eye-catching outfit. Just be sure your outfit still looks polished.

However you choose to style it, the important thing is to have fun and express yourself. Happy Tutu Tuesday, dancers! Don't forget to share your tutu-inspired looks on social media and tag me **#tututuesday**
