Tutu Tuesday in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania: A Tutu-tally Amazing Celebration of Dance

Hey everyone! It’s your girl, Sasha here, back with another fashion-forward blog post. And today, I’m channeling my inner ballerina, because it’s **Tutu Tuesday**! I can’t even tell you how much I’ve been looking forward to this, you guys! As you know, my love for ballet and its intricate, feminine designs is like a pair of pointe shoes perfectly fitted to my foot: it just fits! And Tutu Tuesday in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, is the ultimate way to celebrate all things tutu.

Tutu Tuesday in Bethlehem is an annual celebration of dance held in the historic Moravian town. It’s like a sugarplum fairy dreamed it up! Picture this: cobblestone streets lined with beautiful dancers from local studios and schools, showcasing the elegance of the classical tutu with its tiers of soft, airy tulle and the graceful movement of ballet in all its forms, from graceful ballets to vibrant contemporary and even playful jazz pieces.

And this year’s Tutu Tuesday event was nothing short of magical. Not only did we have some amazing performances that kept me completely captivated from the first beat of the music to the final curtain call, but also, the energy was truly infectious. It’s just so inspiring to see so many people in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania – young and old alike - come together for a shared love of dance. Whether it was admiring the artistry of seasoned professionals or watching the sheer joy of kids getting their first taste of this incredible art form, I can honestly say I saw more smiles and heard more laughter on Tuesday than I have in weeks.

But it wasn’t all about the performances, though they were absolutely amazing and made me want to dust off my own ballet shoes and get back into the studio, you guys! Let's get into the real star of the show: THE TUTUS!! There were tutus of every imaginable color, style, and design. We’re talking classical romantic tutus with yards and yards of soft tulle, swirling around each dancer as they leaped and pirouetted. There were dramatic tutus in deep jewel tones – velvet ones too – like sapphire, emerald and ruby. You get it?

My personal favorites were the contemporary tutus! We're talking sleek and modern designs with daring silhouettes that allowed for lots of fluidity and movement. Some of the pieces had unique cuts that framed the dancers' bodies like sculptures – and a few were paired with breathtaking costume pieces – like long, flowing skirts with jeweled accents and capes of chiffon that flowed with such dramatic effect in the wind it really made my heart soar. But the best part of all? They were made from the most amazing, shimmering fabrics in colors like pearlescent blue and metallic bronze! Talk about eye candy!

Even the vendors were dressed to impress – I just loved their outfits - gorgeous blouses paired with satin pants and colorful ballet flats - so chic! – and every single vendor offered up gorgeous handcrafted creations inspired by the elegance of dance and the beauty of the ballerina: tutu inspired jewelry – my goodness the headbands and pins were gorgeous - so much glitz and glam. Plus, gorgeous handcrafted ballet shoes with exquisite designs and handmade ballerinas – each piece is an absolute treasure and perfect as gifts and tokens of the enduring appeal of the art form. There was even a stall selling ballet themed t-shirts with clever sayings like “My other love is ballet” and "Ballet: it's not a hobby, it's a lifestyle!"

Of course, I took home some treasures of my own! A delicate necklace of tiny white pearls with a charming silver ballerina charm – and an absolutely stunning scarf of shimmering emerald silk - totally my go-to color right now, you guys. The texture was amazing - light and breezy – and it's perfect for tossing around during my barre exercises - so I don’t feel restricted and it lets the air circulate - just as comfy as a ballerina's slipper - even in class. I already had my first #OOTD post up using the scarf this morning! I mean, it totally looks perfect with denim, or even leggings for casual workouts – totally on trend, right? And I’m seriously thinking about commissioning a custom piece from the artist. This tutu inspired jewelry is just to die for!

I’m already counting down the days until Tutu Tuesday next year! I just know it will be even more magical than this one, so if you’re a dance enthusiast in Bethlehem or anywhere nearby, don’t miss this annual tradition! And hey, why not make a Tutu Tuesday a thing wherever you are? What could be more fun and inspiring? So rock your own tutu, try out those fancy dance moves – or just embrace your love of all things dance and spread the love of this beautiful art form. It's time to unleash our inner ballerina!
