If you’ve been following me, you know I've been living in my favorite tutus this week and I'm absolutely obsessed with them all! Honestly, you just can’t go wrong when you choose to wear a tutu – every single style is magical! My friends in Freeport are so on board with my Tutu Tuesday shenanigans, it’s becoming an epic celebration of tutus!
There's a magic that happens when you put on a tutu – it just radiates confidence and joy. For a minute, the world just melts away. Maybe it’s because you're stepping into a beautiful and powerful symbol of art and expression! Who doesn't want that?
Now, you guys already know, I have a serious love affair with the romanticism of the traditional tutus, like the soft and airy ones made of tulle that we usually see on stage. But, let me tell you – they’re a total showstopper off-stage, too!
And the short, bouncy tutus that pack so much pizazz, even when you’re simply strolling? My inner child is just thrilled about them. In Freeport, a lot of people are taking a classic tutu and styling it in a fresh, edgy way – pairing them with casual street-style items or giving them an elegant but unexpected pop of color with an oversized floral blazer or a stylish kimono. I've been spotted with my tutus in a multitude of colors and styles – you’ll see me on a day-to-day basis styling them in the most casual and effortless looks. Sometimes I'll pair it with a cool sweatshirt, a bomber jacket and high-top sneakers! It adds that playful, feminine element without making it all about ballet. Then other days I'm looking super glam with a fitted top and classic stilettos.
I think that’s really the heart of Tutu Tuesday, that you can do whatever your heart desires and get that special feeling no matter your age. No pressure to even take one leap! What I’m loving most about the event – we are all celebrating what the tutu means to us as an iconic symbol and cultural landmark that represents beauty and movement, a real reminder that it’s OK to stand out – you don’t have to be on pointe to look elegant!
We even saw some really cool DIY tutus here in Freeport! It turns out the people around here are some really talented fashionistas! We found a ton of tutorials online showing how to create one-of-a-kind tutus from scratch and now they’re sharing them on social media and people have embraced this idea with wide open arms!
It was awesome to watch Freeport embrace #tututuesday and join me in celebrating everything we love about tutus! Even our local bakeries are creating Tutu-themed treats. You just can’t deny – they are practically irresistible! I had one with my coffee and just as the treat looked as fabulous as a tutu, it tasted delicious, and for once the icing actually did stay intact when I took my first bite! I saw several girls strutting down the street in tutus and we even witnessed some spectacular tutu-twirling parties that spilled out from some of the coffee shops.
One thing we learned from this amazing celebration is this – there's no wrong way to be a Tutu-holic. I mean, look around, everyone can create their own Tutu story, right? It can even be your version of “ballet in a bottle,” even if it's your only “pointe” in the day. Whether you're all about that glitzy classic tutu look, that effortlessly breezy look or want to do a fashion spin and dress up a tutu for a date night look, Freeport and #tututuesday embrace all! And really – it doesn’t get any better than celebrating how magical the Tutu is, whether you’re on a stage or dancing through the streets.
