Okay, I'll admit it – my heart skips a beat every Tuesday. This is the day we embrace our inner ballerinas and rock our best tutus, whether we're heading to class, grabbing coffee, or hitting up a ballet performance! Tutu Tuesday isn't about being a professional, it's about letting your inner ballerina shine. I’m telling you, even your neighborhood Starbucks can turn into the Royal Ballet if you pair a latte with the right tutu. You got this!

• Embrace the Romance The Romantic Tutu – think classic, dreamy, a flowing skirt perfect for swirling and twirling.
• Go Glam For a touch of Hollywood glitz and glamour, try a Tutu with some embellishments – feathers, sequins, maybe a bit of glitter! Perfect for catching the attention of all the right folks.
• Go Sporty A contemporary style tutu with stretch and comfort is just the thing for running errands around Fort Lauderdale or hitting up the Farmers' Market in Wilton Manors!

When I see people dancing and enjoying themselves, it just makes me feel so happy. Fort Lauderdale is a fantastic place to see the love for ballet thriving. The ballet scene in South Florida is strong – from the Broward Center to the local ballet schools in downtown Fort Lauderdale, there’s always a show happening or a dance studio opening its doors. I remember the very first time I went to a ballet performance in South Florida when I was a young girl. It was so magical seeing the grace, the artistry. From the time I put on my first pink tutu, I knew I wanted to share that magic with the world! That’s what #tututuesday is about – spreading the joy, inspiring others, and embracing our inner ballerinas, even when we’re just enjoying a casual day in Fort Lauderdale.

Speaking of ballet and tutu love, you know there is a history to this, right? The American ballet story is fascinating, and there are so many stories to tell. If you are an absolute tutu-lover like me, then you will love learning how the history of the tutu intertwines with the story of ballet in the USA. It started with Marie Taglioni in 1832 – an era-defining ballerina who changed the ballet scene in a dramatic way, especially with the romantic tutu style which gave ballerinas freedom of movement and elegance. Over time, American dancers have made significant contributions. Ballet in the USA became increasingly recognized after World War II and became a major influence on international ballet, bringing forth unique interpretations and styles! Tutus have evolved to encompass a variety of lengths and styles. The styles of the romantic tutu continue to influence contemporary design.

Here in Fort Lauderdale, you can find all sorts of ballet schools to let out your inner ballerina, including Ballet Arts and the Academy of Arts in Fort Lauderdale, as well as The Dance Conservatory in the neighboring city of Coral Springs. Many ballet programs provide opportunities for budding ballerinas to express their love for dance in different ways whether it’s on a grand stage or in the comfortable surroundings of a ballet studio. It doesn’t matter if it's a class or a professional show – those delicate layers of tulle just inspire awe when I watch the beautiful ballerinas take to the stage. I find so much beauty and grace in their movement on stage – just incredible and something that’s so unique about ballet.
