Tutu Tuesday in Norman, Oklahoma! #tututuesday
Hey everyone, it's your girl, Clara, back with another Tutu Tuesday post! This week I'm bringing the tutus to the heartland - Norman, Oklahoma! I know, I know, Oklahoma isn't exactly known for its fashion scene, but trust me, you haven't seen the ballerinas of Norman in action!
This past Tuesday was pure tutu magic. We had everything from classic romantic tutus, like the ones we see in Swan Lake and Giselle, to the bold and dramatic tutus worn in contemporary ballets. I spotted some gorgeous hand-painted tutus and some super creative upcycled tutus that really blew my mind. I even saw a few ladies rocking 'everyday' tutus, showing us how to bring a little ballet elegance to our everyday outfits. Seriously, if you're looking for style inspiration, you need to check out the ladies in Norman, they know how to rock a tutu!
Norman, Oklahoma has a super passionate ballet community. They've got the University of Oklahoma's School of Dance, which attracts talented students and renowned dancers from across the country. Plus, there are numerous smaller ballet schools and companies that keep the dance scene vibrant. This town truly loves its ballet, and the love shows in their commitment to the art, especially their enthusiasm for the perfect tutu!
Speaking of tutus, this week's #tututuesday theme was all about **"Tutu Trends."** Let's dive in and explore what I saw:
- **Romantic Tutu Revolution:** Classic romantic tutus are having a moment. They were out in full force, a symphony of flowing tulle and ethereal designs.
- **Bold and Edgy:** This trend definitely took the spotlight this week. Many dancers were embracing contemporary tutu styles. These were tutus with unique silhouettes, asymmetrical cuts, and a play of colors. We saw vibrant hues, unconventional fabrics, and an experimental approach to tutu construction. They were daring, dynamic, and oh-so-chic!
- **The Tutu Upcycle:** One of my favorite trends, upcycled tutus are getting all the attention. This is a way to showcase creativity and reduce textile waste, two things I always love. We spotted tutus with reused fabrics, ribbons, and embellishments - proving that sustainable fashion can be stunning, even for ballerinas!
- **Everyday Tutu:** As much as I love a grand performance tutu, I was excited to see women in Norman rocking the "everyday" tutu look. Think casual tutus paired with chic street-wear styles for a playful, edgy touch to everyday outfits.
It was inspiring to see so many dancers embracing different tutu styles. It shows that there's a tutu for everyone, no matter your taste, your body type, or the style of dance you love.
I'm so grateful to have been able to visit Norman, Oklahoma, and witness their #tututuesday energy firsthand. And as I always say, the beauty of ballet doesn't stop with the steps.
