Tutu Tuesday in Moore, Oklahoma, USA: #tututuesday

Hey there, fellow ballet lovers! It's your girl, Lily, back with another Tutu Tuesday post. This week, I'm bringing you all the latest news from the ballet scene in Oklahoma City, and let me tell you, it's a vibrant and exciting world here in the heart of America!

As we know, ballet has always been a cornerstone of the arts, and in recent years, it has become increasingly popular here in the USA. And while it may seem like a far cry from the big-city stages of New York and Paris, ballet in Oklahoma is flourishing, offering a unique perspective and dynamic talent. This past weekend, I got a taste of that local passion at the Oklahoma City Ballet’s incredible performance of "The Nutcracker". Those costumes were simply to die for – classic and elegant, of course, but with just a hint of modern flair! There were traditional tutus, the ones with the full skirts that are practically a symbol of ballet, and there were a few fun contemporary styles as well, like the adorable short-sleeved leotard with a simple, swirling skirt, that one of the ballerinas wore to portray the Sugar Plum Fairy, it was simply magical! I swear, I was ready to hit the stage myself.

The most inspiring part of it all is seeing the dedication and commitment to the craft, not only by the professionals at the Oklahoma City Ballet but also by the younger generations, These are the future stars of American ballet! The Oklahoma City Ballet's outreach program for kids is just amazing. They offer classes to children from all walks of life, making ballet accessible to all, and that's truly what #tututuesday is all about – the passion and accessibility of ballet!

Speaking of tutus, I thought we'd delve deeper into the wonderful world of different tutu styles! This isn't just your mom's ballet, there are so many ways to wear a tutu! It's an evolution in fabric and form:

  • **Romantic Tutu:** You know those soft, gauzy, dreamlike ones? Imagine floating in the air, that's the Romantic tutu. Romantic tutus with the light and flowing skirts give a delicate feel and are perfect for romantic and dreamy ballet pieces.
  • **Classical Tutu:** You see these everywhere, especially for the graceful Swan Lake pieces. This iconic look usually comes with a structured layer of stiff tulle to form the dramatic shape of the classic ballet skirt.
  • **Short Tutu:** Who says ballerinas can't be funky? Short tutus are shorter, creating a modern edge.

Now let's talk trends, my favorite subject. I see more and more young ballerinas expressing themselves through their tutu choices! And don’t worry about finding a perfect one, just pick what feels amazing for you! What really inspires me is how many talented Oklahoma ballet dancers are incorporating modern touches into their tutus. You'll see everything from unique fabrics, to dramatic color pairings and stunning designs. For example, I love this one ballerina I follow, she has a tutu that's custom made from fabric dyed in these earthy shades with iridescent shimmer - super dreamy, and totally original. You go girl!

It’s time for our #tututuesday challenge of the week! I want you to find that favorite tutu of yours! It could be from your very first ballet class or one you see in your favorite dance show. It’s all about celebrating the joy of dance, and how many incredible choices there are for tutus out there. So tell us your story in the comments below and share your favorite #tututuesday moment!

See you all next week with a brand new post!
