Tutu Tuesday in Cambridge, Massachusetts: A Celebration of All Things Ballet
Hey everyone! It's your girl, Claire, back with another installment of my beloved blog, "Dancing Through Life." Today is a very special day because it's Tutu Tuesday, a day that celebrates everything ballet, from the exquisite costumes to the dedication of the dancers themselves. In Cambridge, Massachusetts, we love our ballet, and I know you'll see why.
For me, there's nothing more inspiring than slipping on a perfectly-fitted tutu, feeling the tulle swish and sway around my legs as I execute a perfect pirouette. The sheer artistry and craftsmanship that goes into every single stitch, every single layer is breathtaking.
Tutus, they come in all sorts of styles! Some are super-fluffy, like clouds, and those are always so much fun. Then there are the romantic, ethereal styles like the "Romantic Tutu," which makes me feel like I’m dancing on a cloud. If I need to channel power and energy, I might slip on a "Classical Tutu," the one we associate with classic ballet like Swan Lake or The Nutcracker, with those big, dramatic layers. I've got my own "Tutu Collection," you guys! Each one, it holds special memories and reflects a different moment in my ballet journey.
Now, for #tututuesday in Cambridge, MA, we're seeing this tradition pop up all over town, but let's take a peek at where it all started. At the Harvard Ballet Company, which, guess what, they even had a #tututuesday workshop last week, just before opening night. Can you believe it? I just might go down to Harvard Square next Tuesday! Now that’s a show I don't want to miss!
Then, I gotta check out what's going on at the American Repertory Theater! Ballet is part of their shows and there's always that element of dance within it. I imagine it would be really fun to dress up in my tutu and go watch something spectacular like that.
This Tuesday in Cambridge is full of options! For example, there’s a ballet class at The Dance Complex with my favorite teacher, Madame Josephine! Of course, that's a given on #tututuesday for us serious ballet girls. She says there's going to be a special Tutu Tuesday giveaway! OMG! Maybe I'll finally get that hand-beaded tutu I've had my eye on at Ballet Boutique! You know the one – full of sparkling crystal embellishments that glimmer like magic! I swear it’s good luck when you have a tutu on that shines. If I can ever snag a gorgeous one like that one, I’d wear it on stage!
