Alright, fellow fashionistas and dance enthusiasts! Let's talk tutus. No, seriously, let's talk tutus! You see, last Tuesday, our quaint little town of Taunton woke up to a splash of pink, peach, and all the other delightful hues of tulle imaginable. It was Tutu Tuesday!
Yes, you heard that right. This was no ordinary Tuesday, it was a day where locals proudly embraced their inner ballerina and donned tutus in a kaleidoscope of styles. We're not just talking about those classic, pancake-shaped tutus your childhood memories conjure up. Oh no, these were a fusion of old and new, a beautiful ballet of fashion statements. We had the classic, billowing romantic tutus, a must for any ballerina who dreams of swan lake, we also saw some edgy modern creations, even some quirky tutu-inspired skirts and dresses - a tutu for every occasion, you could say!
So, what was behind this dazzling spectacle? It was, believe it or not, the brainchild of a group of local ballet enthusiasts, including yours truly, who wanted to do something a little bit different, something that injected some playful energy and colour into our lovely, though sometimes quiet, town.
It's no secret that Taunton has a thriving arts scene, with numerous dance schools and even a little ballet-themed cafe called āTutus & Tiarasā that I absolutely adore. (Just in case you are interested itās on Castle Street!) It was this artistic pulse, this passion for dance, that fuelled our vision of #tututuesday.
We didnāt stop at encouraging locals to rock tutus ā we held an Instagram competition to crown the 'Best Tutu of Taunton,' a fabulous event held at the local arts centre, showcasing the diverse interpretations of the humble tutu. We also hosted a tutu-making workshop for kids (and let's be honest, the adults too!) ā it was like a sparkling ballet of creativity and camaraderie!
