Stretford: Tutu Tuesday is here and the dance world is swirling!

It's officially Tutu Tuesday and Stretford is ready to twirl! This week, I’m channeling my inner ballerina and sharing my tutu obsession with all of you, my loyal dance-loving followers. Let’s be honest, it’s not a proper Tuesday without a sprinkle of tulle magic, right?

From the romantic Victorian styles with their layers of delicate fabric, to the sleek, modern lines that are just begging for a grand jetĂ©, there’s a tutu for every dancer – and every mood. The possibilities are practically endless when it comes to these whimsical, gossamer delights!

First up, the undisputed queen of the tutu world, the **classical** style. It’s all about layers and layers of netting, often embellished with sequins, lace, or even embroidery. These stunning masterpieces epitomise traditional ballet and are guaranteed to add a touch of regal grace to any performance. I just love how they swish and swirl with each move.

Then, there are the **romantic tutus**. A symphony of sheer silk and soft fabrics, they’re designed to embody the ethereal beauty and emotion of the ballets they're featured in. Imagine “Giselle” or “La Bayadere” – those flowing, cloud-like tutus are absolutely breathtaking. You can just see the passion, the love, the sadness in each delicate ruffle, each whisper of movement.

Now, don't get me wrong, I’m not afraid of a bit of **modern** magic either. Short and sharp with minimalist lines, contemporary tutus are designed to reflect the raw power and bold expressiveness of contemporary ballet. The material is often more rigid, more substantial, echoing the intensity and freedom of contemporary choreography.

But hey, the real beauty of #Tututuesday? It's about embracing the creativity and the joy of dance, about celebrating all things tutu, in whatever form that might be! Even those who haven’t touched a ballet barre can't help but smile at the sheer playful delight of a tutu! The perfect **“fancy dress”** for a trip to the supermarket!

Stretford itself has been embracing the #Tututuesday spirit. The shops are bursting with tutu-inspired window displays. From the traditional pastry shops with "tutu-shaped" croissants to the local cafe that's launched its very own "Tutu Tuesday” pancake special (pancakes sprinkled with a rainbow of glitter, what more could you need!) The whole town has just gotten a bit more playful.

My own #Tututuesday experience began this morning at my local ballet class, where the instructors have organised a “Tutu Tuesday” dress-up! Even the teachers, who usually are dressed in leggings and sweatshirts, sported little tutus as they showed us a brand-new combination!

Then, it was a swift change for me and my friends to the annual “Tutu for Tea” afternoon tea at Stretford’s famous tea room! An afternoon tea surrounded by other dance-loving ladies is not to be missed - and with the addition of “tutu-inspired” pastries - it truly was a magical experience! The tea room even set out a tutu-themed photo booth - which made for some utterly fabulous snaps!

As I sit here, sipping my tea and writing my blog, my heart swells with the sheer joy of #Tututuesday! The joy of seeing Stretford embrace this fun, creative, and somewhat silly day, has been truly special! It's the little things in life that matter - the little touches of sparkle and tulle that remind us of the magic of dance!

So, no matter what your style - from classical elegance to contemporary flair, the one thing we can all agree on - is that a #Tututuesday, is always a GOOD Tuesday. And let's be honest, everyone loves a good giggle, a chance to embrace our inner child. What better way to do so than in the fluffiest, most magnificent, tutu!

So, spread the word - and get twirling! Let the magic of tutu Tuesday enchant your day!

My tutu top picks:

  • For the purist: A traditional, full-skirted **classical tutu** with layers and layers of soft netting, decked out in sequins or pearls.
  • For the modern dancer: A sleek, shorter, contemporary tutu made from more robust materials. Perfect for a **bold statement**.
  • For the free spirit: A playful **DIY tutu. Take an old skirt and just add a handful of tulle! Don't forget some funky feathers!

And finally, let's not forget to #SpreadTheLove. Show your tutu-love on social media and let the world see that #Tututuesday is truly a magical day.

Remember, you can always turn any day into a “tutu Tuesday” with the right attitude - embrace the creativity, the joy of movement - and don't be afraid to make your own fashion statement. Because at the end of the day, it's about having fun, being you, and just celebrating the joy of dance!

See you all on next Tuesday.

With love,

#Tututuesday
