Tutu Tuesday in Trowbridge: A Whirlwind of Frills and Feathers
Tutu Tuesday. A day for twirling, a day for dreams, and a day for unleashing your inner ballerina, no matter your age or experience. As a professional ballerina, and a self-proclaimed Tutu Tuesday enthusiast, I have to say, there's no better way to start the week than by adding a touch of frills and feathers to your wardrobe. And this week, I found myself in the delightful town of Trowbridge, a place where charm and history meet, just waiting to be discovered. Of course, my quest to explore the town started at my usual starting point: The local dance studio, where, every Tuesday, I join a group of like-minded women who know that a little tutu magic can brighten even the gloomiest of Mondays.
Trowbridge's Tutu Tales
Trowbridge, you see, isn't just a town, it's a haven for ballet lovers. From its historic buildings that whisper stories of bygone eras to the local dance studios bustling with life, Trowbridge possesses an undeniable charm, a charm that is accentuated by the joyous whirl of Tutu Tuesdays. The local dance scene is incredibly diverse; from classical pointe shoes to modern and contemporary dance, it offers something for everyone. This makes Tutu Tuesday even more fun; it's a time to experiment with different styles, textures, and colors, and you know what? Each Tutu Tuesday at my dance studio feels like a ballet performance. It’s so exciting! It's not uncommon to see a flamboyant tutu paired with jeans, a sleek leotard worn with a vintage coat, or a tutu paired with heels and a flowing maxi dress - all with an air of confidence and individuality. Honestly, this is what makes Tutu Tuesdays so great - it allows everyone to be a ballerina in their own unique way.
A Kaleidoscope of Tutu Styles: Trowbridge's Tutu Transformation
One of the highlights of Tutu Tuesday in Trowbridge, at least for me, is seeing the town transform into a vibrant kaleidoscope of colors and styles. You see, when it comes to tutus, the sky’s the limit; just about any color or pattern you can dream of exists - think fluffy and bright pinks, fiery red tutus with dramatic tiers, graceful emerald green tutus that make you feel like you are floating. But the beauty of tutus isn’t just about the color and pattern; it's also about the cut and the style. There’s a classic style – the romantic, fairytale tutu – usually white or pink and made with a copious amount of layers of tulle that create a magical, airy silhouette. Another one of my personal favorites – the dramatic tutu, a style designed for performance and impact. The length can vary – some have a knee-length skirt while others are so dramatic, they come down to the ankles, and even then, there’s a certain undeniable grandeur and power. Lastly, let's not forget the modern-day tutu, a chic alternative that is designed for everyday wear. This type of tutu can be crafted from softer fabrics – think silk or satin – that makes for a sophisticated look that is wearable and, dare I say, sophisticated.
My Trowbridge Tutu Inspiration
Inspired by the beauty and diverse creativity I witnessed on Tutu Tuesday in Trowbridge, I just had to have a little photoshoot for my blog, “Tutu Tuesdays.” Here’s a little glimpse into my photo shoot at the town’s very own library:
Outfit 1: A Ballet Classic:
- The Look: This time, I chose a tutu that reflected a more classical style. Made with ivory tulle and adorned with elegant hand-sewn beadwork, this tulle was designed to move gracefully with each twirl and hop. I paired it with a crisp white camisole and some classic ivory ballet slippers.
- Location: Standing amidst the grand bookshelves, with towering bookshelves as a backdrop, my classic tutu looked spectacularly classic and romantic. The hushed silence of the library made it feel like I was performing in a silent film, moving with ethereal grace in a setting of great literary splendor.
Outfit 2: A modern, day-to-day Tutu:
- The Look:This tutu was more modern, a beautiful teal shade, the color of the shimmering summer sky on a calm day, with layers of sombre, slightly rough fabric and a beautiful silken sash tied at my waist, this was designed to feel light and modern and wearable for an evening out. I finished the look with my trusty suede ankle boots, a vintage knitted shawl that echoed the tones of the tutu and a classic leather handbag.
- Location:For this tutu, I wanted an atmosphere that matched the contemporary look. I walked around the quaint, cobbled lanes and found myself on the historic steps of a traditional British pub, which made for a rather striking combination – traditional yet effortlessly trendy. The photo really made the teal pop!
