Tutu Tuesday in Pontypridd: A Dance of Fashion and Fun
#tututuesday
So, I'm back with another instalment of #tututuesday, but this time, I'm stepping outside the usual dance studio confines and taking you with me to the beautiful town of Pontypridd in South Wales. It’s been a long time coming, but I finally found time to do some serious tutu exploring – you know me, always on the lookout for the latest trends in this timeless garment.
Let’s talk tulle – yes, it’s that time again. From classic romantic tutus, those with delicate, layered tulle for a fairytale effect, to the bolder, more contemporary styles that boast structured, engineered tulle. My goodness, we have a lot to unpack. Pontypridd really exceeded expectations when it came to finding a fabulous tutu for every taste and budget.
So, where did my #tututuesday adventure lead me?
Let me tell you, my dear friends, this town has some real hidden gems when it comes to finding your perfect tutu.
• My first stop was “The Fabric Gallery” on Mill Street. This quirky little shop, nestled between a butcher and a bakery, holds a real treasure trove of tulle, lace, ribbon, sequins – everything a tutu needs. The friendly owner, Miss Margaret, was a delight. I spent a good hour chatting about all things tutu-related. Let me tell you, you'd be hard pressed to find such knowledgeable expertise on tulle and its textures – it was an absolute treat. I emerged from the shop armed with not only inspiration for a new design but also some fabulous pieces of ivory tulle.
• Next, I took a stroll over to the historic Tavern on Pontypridd High Street. As I enjoyed a pot of tea with a slice of cake, my eye was caught by a beautifully preserved antique shop, “Treasures of the Past.” This lovely little shop is a delightful whimsical treasure trove. It even had a little section devoted to costumes and fabric – I even found a beautifully preserved 1950’s tutu in powder blue. It wasn't cheap, but oh, the romance of that dusty old tutu. The story of the former dancer who wore it simply took my breath away.
• After my vintage tutu discovery, I decided to take a trip to “The Sewing Workshop.” This is the perfect place for all your sewing and costuming needs, and the shop owners are incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. They can even tailor and alter any tutu you find. They’re a must for any budding tutu designer.
• Finally, my last stop for #tututuesday was a little independent boutique, “Fashions by Fran.” It's a fabulous shop in the heart of Pontypridd with a quirky range of styles, colours and accessories. Fran herself is a total gem, she has a fantastic eye for tutu designs and can guide you towards finding your perfect tutu. You won't leave without some fun sparkle! They even do ballet shoes so you can complete your tutu look!
So, there you have it. #tututuesday in Pontypridd was a complete triumph! You really do need to visit. It's a town that's brimming with culture and history, and it’s got some fabulous hidden gems, all ready for you to discover! The whole experience had me absolutely smitten with Pontypridd – it truly is a town for fashionistas of all ages! Whether you're searching for the perfect tutu for a dance competition or want a vintage tutu for your wedding, this welcoming little town will never disappoint. You simply need to take the time to explore and discover its treasures!
