Kendal’s Tutu Trendsetters From vintage to contemporary, from classic to modern, Kendal has embraced Tutu Tuesday, bringing together its unique fashion community with this versatile garment. There are tutus in every imaginable colour - bold pinks and oranges, dramatic blacks and greys, soft pastels, the delicate floral designs that whisper romance and intricate details that whisper vintage glamour. But it's not all about colour; it's about the cut too. We’ve seen all sorts of creative interpretations today: The classically elegant "Romantic Tutu" with layers of soft tulle flowing to the ground. Or, if you're after something more bold, there are the "Modern Tutu" styles that can be incorporated into edgy streetwear looks. It’s been delightful to see the different creative takes on the timeless tutu shape – it’s truly a canvas for individuality! Kendal's Tutu Community Walking down the main street today, I have seen local fashion boutiques like "The Dressing Room" and "Fashion Flair" going all-out with their tutu displays. I loved that "The Dressing Room" have set up a tutu try-on booth outside their shop – so charming! They are showcasing their beautiful range of tutus from their Spring collection, offering their shoppers advice on styling them. You can’t miss their bright yellow "Tutu Tuesday" window display; it's bursting with colourful tutus in all shapes and sizes! The cafĂ© scene is bursting with creativity too. You could even spot the "Tutu Tuesday Special" menu on the blackboards of many cafĂ©s in town. Who knew that you could have your afternoon tea alongside such creative fashion inspiration? One of my favorite cafes, "The Bakehouse" even had their servers rocking tutus with matching baker’s hats - very impressive. The shops have joined the trend too, creating their own Tutu Tuesday offerings. "Kendal Bookworm" have offered customers 10% off on purchases with the code “Tutu Tuesday”, whilst "The Curious Shoppe" are hosting a raffle to win a custom tutu, which you can see all day on a mannequin, which has become the ultimate “Tutu Tuesday” landmark here in Kendal. It's inspiring to see so many people embracing the joy of a good tutu. Tutu Tuesday at The Royal Ballet Theatre My personal highlight of the day was spending an afternoon at The Royal Ballet Theatre. Their Tutu Tuesday was quite an event, the atmosphere inside the theatre was incredible! As I walked past, I couldn’t resist sneaking in and taking a peek. Inside, dancers, choreographers, and even audience members were wearing all manner of tutus. There was an eclectic mix, with everyone putting their own individual twist on this much-loved dance attire. One thing that I noticed was that all of these styles could be interpreted for everyday wear, even if you’re not a professional ballet dancer. A tutu might seem intimidating to wear out and about but trust me; if you play around with proportions, pairing the right accessories, and add your own unique personal touches, then it’s absolutely possible to make a tutu look effortless and chic, even when wearing it to run errands or for coffee dates. It can really be incorporated into a casual look, a formal ensemble or even a festive party dress. The key is finding a style that fits your personal tastes and feels comfortable. It really doesn't matter if you're a dancer, a fashionista, a mum or simply a lover of all things fun - Tutu Tuesday is for you. This joyous occasion shows how Kendal's unique community and fashion consciousness truly come together to celebrate. And I have no doubt that the fun won't end with just one day; the tutu magic will ripple on throughout the week. It's amazing how one garment, worn in such diverse ways, can unite an entire town in joyful expression. #TutuTuesday, #Kendal,
