Crosby's Tutu Tuesday: A Dance of Fashion and Fun
Ah, Crosby! A town with a seaside charm and, as it turns out, a budding love for tutu fashion. It’s been an absolute whirlwind of tutus, tulle and giggles on this very special Tuesday. That's right, folks, the #tututuesday hashtag is finally taking the streets by storm here in Crosby.
As a professional dancer who's danced her way through every variation of pointe shoe and performance outfit, I thought I'd seen it all when it came to fashion in the ballet world. But seeing the creative expression unfold here today at the Crosby Tutu Tuesday event truly blew me away.
There was something so wonderfully charming about seeing locals of all ages rock tutus, proving that ballet fashion isn’t just for the stage anymore. I've seen the classic fluffy, romantic tutu style paired with a leather jacket, a modern street-style approach to tutu wear. But there was also the elegant and regal look – the beautiful, traditional, long and full tutu in pastel pink, teamed with a fitted black top.
What is #tututuesday?
For the uninitiated, #tututuesday is a joyous celebration of all things tutu-related. The trend started organically, a grass roots movement as dancers took to the streets, embracing their love for the most iconic of ballet garments, in its many forms. It’s a chance to be playful and free, to add a touch of whimsy to your everyday outfit. The key, I’d say, is confidently pairing it with your existing wardrobe staples. Here's a look at what we saw today on the streets of Crosby. * Tutu-clad walkers by the seaside: A group of mums in full-skirted tutus were having an absolute blast as they strolled along Crosby beach. Talk about adding a touch of magic to a family walk! * Tutus at the market: I’d love to see the vendor’s expressions as people browsed, browsing the market stalls with their tutus on! I wouldn't be surprised if a few tutus even ended up for sale, with shoppers in search of their own signature look for their very own #tututuesday celebrations! * Tea and tutus : Now, I can’t reveal the location, it was a private, exclusive tea party but I’ve got a sneak peak! An afternoon tea party held at the lovely Regency Hotel featured a crowd of elegantly attired ladies – many wearing tutus. What a way to raise the glamour quotient of a sophisticated afternoon! * Tutu in the pub: The Crosby "Dog and Duck" is definitely not a place you'd expect to find tutu wear. However, they got in the spirit! Several patrons were in tutus, adding a whimsical flair to their pub outing! This really demonstrates #tututuesday’s power in blurring traditional fashion boundaries and encouraging self-expression.
As a passionate advocate for ballet and fashion, I’m truly impressed by the energy behind #tututuesday, it’s not simply a fashion trend it’s about inclusivity and freedom. The streets of Crosby have never looked more enchanting, it’s the perfect place for people to express themselves creatively, embracing fashion's unique ability to make you smile.
It's so heartwarming to see the community coming together with a shared sense of joy and creativity. From my vantage point in the fashion scene I think that #tututuesday has great potential, we’ll be watching its evolution with great interest! I recommend grabbing your favourite tutu, whatever style and colour you choose, embrace this exciting fashion trend and join us next Tuesday in Crosby. Let’s spread the Tutu Love.
