As a professional ballet dancer, I am constantly seeking inspiration from the world around me. Every day brings new encounters with fashion, art, and creativity, which feed my passion for all things dance. And while I might spend a good deal of my time practicing pirouettes in the studio, Iâm also a dedicated devotee of the #tututuesday movement. Let's be honest, who doesnât love a chance to celebrate the magical and utterly elegant tutu?
This week, my love for tutus took me to the historic city of Bath. Itâs truly a treasure trove of charming streets, picturesque buildings, and vibrant cultural events, and it wasnât long before I discovered something extraordinary: Bath's very own âTutu Tuesdayâ celebration!
Yes, you heard me right! This charming town embraces a love of the tutu with an entire week of dedicated events. Every Tuesday, from May to September, the city hosts a fabulous âTutu Tuesdayâ â an all-out celebration of the tutu, its elegance, its artistry, and its impact on dance and fashion alike. This incredible celebration features:
- A âTutu Paradeâ that meanders through the historic heart of Bath. Imagine, if you will, a procession of colour and movement with dancers of all ages sporting stunning tutus - the grand pouted classical style with multiple layers and tiers, the more modern, asymmetric, and streamlined variations; even the audacious contemporary, ultra-short, and avant-garde ones.
- The âTutu Marketâ , brimming with stalls showcasing a vibrant array of designer and handcrafted tutus, a selection so varied it's simply bewildering.
- A "Tutu Tea Party", with delicate sandwiches, beautiful cakes and the freshest teas, all amidst the elegance of a tea party atmosphere.
- âTutu-inspiredâ street performances, where local artists transform the city with spectacular dances and choreographies celebrating the joy of the tutu and all that it represents.
- âTutu Workshops,â where aspiring dancers can learn the art of tutus from professional choreographers, from classic moves to the most contemporary dance trends.
As you can imagine, I was thrilled to be amidst this sea of tutus, and immediately got swept up in the electrifying atmosphere. Bath's âTutu Tuesdayâ truly celebrates the versatility and timeless elegance of this quintessential garment â a reminder that tutus are more than just traditional dancewear.

It was like witnessing pure magic unfold on the streets. Every spin and leap felt so alive! I felt a true sense of awe, inspiration and happiness.
