Bridgwater’s Tutu Tuesday: A Celebration of All Things Tutus!

So, darling readers, I am thrilled to announce that Bridgwater is now the newest haven for tutu lovers everywhere. This fabulous town, already known for its enchanting carnival, has now officially embraced the magical allure of tulle.
**Bridgwater’s Tutu Tuesday** is a fabulous new initiative designed to bring some lighthearted fun and colour into our lives. The basic premise is simple, and I have to say, truly delightful - wear a tutu anywhere, everywhere you go.
**Who wouldn't want to twirl their way through a supermarket in a vibrant pink tutu?** Picture yourself queuing for the bakery in a beautiful, classic romantic tutu or, dare I say, doing the school run in a daring, edgy tutu that lets your inner fierce fashionista shine? It's absolutely fab, don’t you think?
The brilliant folk of Bridgwater have taken the “Tutu Tuesday” concept and run with it, turning their town into a living, breathing testament to the joyous, freeing, and incredibly versatile world of tutus.
From shops to cafes, from parks to playgrounds, the infectious energy of Tutu Tuesday can be felt in the air!
I decided to experience Tutu Tuesday for myself and headed to Bridgwater, my camera and my love for all things ballet in tow. My trusty tutu, a dreamy lilac, tulle creation I snagged in a vintage shop a few weeks back, was ready for its grand debut.
Here's what I saw:
* The sweet young ladies working at the local bakery had tied fluffy, pink tulle tutus to their aprons. One little girl I passed, with pigtails bouncing, wore a dazzling emerald green tutu and proudly declared, “My grandma made it for me!”
* A group of men in a local pub were happily sporting their own versions of tutus – the colourful paper party kind – and laughing heartily.
* Even the local library was participating! Their book displays were dressed up with elegant black and white tutus, creating a refined ballet theme that was both stunning and captivating.
So, you ask, how did the Tutu Tuesday phenomenon come to be? It all began with a lovely local woman called Ms. Beatrice Willow, an eccentric and fabulous hairdresser with a heart of gold and an undying love for dance. One Tuesday morning, as she was setting up shop, she looked at herself in the mirror and thought: ** "Why shouldn't today be Tutu Tuesday?" ** Beatrice, in her ever-stylish polka-dot frock and signature floral head scarf, donned her own black, classic tutu, tied with a ribbon just below her knees. She stepped out of her shop, and her playful whimsy sparked a fire that ignited a community.
Tutus have the unique ability to bridge age, gender, and social differences You don’t have to be a ballerina, or even be able to hold your balance for two seconds in pointe shoes, to revel in the glorious world of the tutu!
* Whether you prefer the romantic elegance of a full-length romantic tutu or the edgy street style of a short, tutu skirt, there’s a tutu style out there to suit every personality and taste.
* And it’s this adaptability that makes the Tutu Tuesday initiative such a delight. The fact that you can see a dapper businessman in a tiny, playful, tutu (and his face full of gleeful grins) beside a sweet elderly woman rocking a full-length, classic white tutu speaks to a collective joy and the sheer pleasure of embracing a little whimsy!
